three days had passed since the statement announcing jay and sunoo's relationship hit the public. it was everywhere—news articles, online forums, fan edits. every corner of the internet seemed to be dissecting their every move. some fans adored the pairing, labeling it the ultimate "plot twist," while others accused them of orchestrating the relationship as a publicity stunt.
jay had been skeptical from the start. he hated the idea of lying to fans, but he was a professional and had reluctantly agreed. sunoo, on the other hand, seemed visibly shaken from the moment the plan was presented. he had tried to mask his discomfort with his usual smile, but it didn't take much to see the cracks beneath his cheerful façade.
now, backstage at their first joint press conference, jay finally saw the toll it had taken.
sunoo sat on the edge of a velvet chair, his fingers digging into the plush armrests as if holding on for dear life. his usually bright and cheerful face was pale, his eyes glassy as they darted around the room.
jay was pacing nearby, adjusting the cuffs of his blazer out of habit more than necessity. his nerves were present but manageable. after all, he was used to the spotlight. but when his gaze landed on sunoo, he froze.
something was wrong.
"sunoo?" jay called softly, his voice laced with concern.
sunoo didn't respond. his chest rose and fell unevenly, and his lips parted as if he couldn't quite catch his breath.
jay's stomach twisted. he recognized the signs immediately. panic attacks weren't uncommon in their line of work—he remembered the first time he crumbled under the immense pressure of their industry. but seeing sunoo, experience it was unsettling.
jay crossed the room quickly, kneeling in front of sunoo to get his attention. "sunoo, look at me," he said gently.
sunoo flinched at the sound of his name but didn't lift his gaze. his hands trembled as they gripped the chair, and jay could see tears brimming in his wide eyes.
