this wasn't how his day was supposed to go. he had woken up to frantic calls from his manager and headlines splashed across every entertainment site, linking him romantically with sunoo, the bright-eyed member of the rookie group luminous.

it didn't make sense. the photos circulating didn't even look incriminating—just candid shots of them standing near each other at music bank. it was laughable at best and maddening at worst.

when jay burst into the practice room, expecting to find his teammates waiting to figure this out together, he was met with an empty room. a bead of sweat trickled down his temple as his phone buzzed.

"head to bang pd-nim's office. i'll meet you there," read the message from his manager.

"jay, come in," he gestured, his voice calm but firm. "have a seat."

"sorry i'm late!"

sunoo stumbled into the room, cheeks flushed from running. he paused when he saw jay, his wide eyes betraying a mix of nervousness and embarrassment.

"sunoo?" jay blurted out, his voice louder than he intended.

sunoo bowed politely. "hi, hyung." his usually cheerful demeanor seemed dampened, as though the situation had weighed him down, too.
