The sight of fire all around

A loud crash against the floor

A scream.

It all roamed in her head and she cried out in her sleep and then jolted up, sitting upright on the bed.

She was breathing heavily, tears had blurred her vision and she was dranched in sweat. Her eyes still tightly shut as she tried breathing through her mouth, her mouth opening in a silent gasp and then she forced her eyes open. She was sitting on the bed, her heart pounded loudly in her ears as she looked around. The chamber was bathed in the golden hue  due to the light coming from the bedside lamp.

Her breath was coming out in short, ragged gasps, her chest tightned as sweat beads formed and rolled down her forehead.

Anar.

A girl came towards her, calling out for her, her voice carrying a hint of panic but she couldn't hear it as the images continued to dance in front of her eyes haunting her, her breathing rose.

ANARKALI!!!

The girl screamed reaching out and clenching Anarkali,s shoulders into a tight hold.

Anarkali stilled for a moment and then let out a trembling breath. Her eyes snapped shut.

Maher.

Anarkali called out, her voice barely above a whisper.

Woh....

She trailed off, words abandoned her as she looked at Maherunisa with glossy eyes.

Shh. Pursukoon ho jao Anarkali.

Maherunisa said, her voice a soft whisper. She wiped the sweat from Anarkali,s forehead with her dupatta, her touch tender.

Anarkali looked at Maherunisa and let out a trembling breath, a tear trailed down her cheek, her eyes reflecting the conflicting emotions that ragged within her.

Kaise Maher....

Anarkali trailed off, her frustration bubbling over.

How!!!

She exclaimed and covered her face with her palms.

I know it's difficult but....

Maherunisa trailed off and then took a deep breath and locked eyes with Anarkali

Not impossible.

She spoke, her voice tinged with conviction.

Anarkali smiled, relief etched across her features and she breathed finally.

She smiled and hugged Maherunisa finding herself overwhelmed with emotions. Maherunisa smiled and hugged Anarkali back gently rubbing her back to calm her down.

Anarkali pulled back and smiled. The shine returned into her eyes and she took a few sips of water.

All okay?

Maherunisa asked, her voice carrying a hint of worry.

Anarkali felt a pang of guilt hitting her for troubling Maherunisa and she sighed before nodding her head in positive.

Don't worry.

Maherunisa spoke, her eyes filled with understanding as she caressed Anarkali,s hair knowing full well that what she's thinking.
