I opened my eyes and was surprised to see I was in a nice, soft canopy bed. I looked over to the bedside table and saw the clock said it was three o'clock in the afternoon. I quickly sat up only to lay back down. There was a sharp pain in the middle of my back. I tried moving my legs but they felt heavy. Then someone opened the door and walked in. It was Landon.
"How are you feeling?" He asked gently.
"I can't move my legs and my back hurts," I said, trying to sit up again.
"Careful," he ran to my side to help me. "You shouldn't move, you have to rest."
"How long have I been asleep?" I yawned lazily.
"Three days."
"Three days?!? I've been asleep for three days and no one woke me up?!?"
"You were injured and I wanted you to get better so I didn't let anyone disturb you," he said calmly. "What do you remember?"
"Umm," I thought a moment. "I remember I was in a tree while you fought a wolf and Jack took Lizzie, wait, where's Lizzie?!?" I tried to get up again.
"She's fine," he said, trying to get me to stop moving so much. "She wasn't injured as bad as you were. Do you remember anything else?"
"Not really, just bits and pieces. What happens to me?" I asked, looking at myself. My arms were wrapped with old rags and my hands had scratches on them. I felt my face and could feel lots of tiny scratches and dried blood.
"A werewolf attacked you," he said simply.
"What?!?"
"A werewolf attacked you. Remember how big the wolves were? They were big because they were werewolves."
"Oh, and I suppose vampires are real too?"
"Actually," he hesitated. "I'm a vampire. And I guess now you are too."
"What?" I muttered.
"You were going to die and I had to save you. I couldn't let you die so I gave you some of my blood to drink and you became a vampire. That's why you healed so fast." He explained.
"But I thought....." I didn't know what to think anymore.
"I know it's a lot to take in but you have to believe me," he pleaded. I suddenly got a wave of dizziness. "Are you okay?" He asked, looking into my eyes.
"I think so," I looked up and closed my eyes. I felt my blood pumping through my veins and heard a low beat, repeating itself over and over again. "I have to get up and walk around," I struggled to get up. After I realized I couldn't move my legs yet, I gave up. "Why can't I move my legs?"
"The wolf broke them when it attacked you," he explained calmly. "Are you hungry?"
"No," I said as another wave of dizziness hit me.
"Are you okay?"
"I don't know," I mumbled. "I feel weird. Light headed and dizzy," I closed my eyes.
"I'll go get something for you to eat," he left the room. "Make sure no one goes in there, Jack," I heard him whisper in the hallway. I heard footsteps walk to the door but they didn't come in. Then I heard Lizzie talking to Jack.
"Please, you have to let me in. I have to make sure she's okay," she pleaded.
"No. Landon told me to make sure no one goes in there except him. It's not safe," Jack replied.
"Not safe! She's my best friend. How is it not safe to see my best friend?!?"
"She's different now," Jack tried to calm Lizzie down.
"No, let me in!" I heard a struggle behind the door. Then Lizzie swung open the door and walked in. "Heather, are you okay?" She exclaimed. I instantly felt light headed again. I could hear her heart pumping blood through her veins. I closed my eyes trying to stop my oncoming headache. Everything sounded so loud. Then Lizzie turned on the light and I was instantly blinded. I subconsciously screamed, unable to bear the pain.
"I told you not to let anyone in," I heard Landon yell at Jack, but it sounded so far away, like if I was on another world. Then the lights were turned off and everyone left the room. I laid down, the pain gone, and quickly fell asleep.
