Some days have passed since the King began his goose chase with the Stranger. Unfortunately for Godzilla, he can only go so fast when limited to land and the sea. It didn’t help that whenever the Stranger would slow down and take a rest, they would leave right as Godzilla was close by. It was as if they were taunting him, it was infuriating. He was sure the Stranger knew they were being tailed at this point, perhaps they knew the moment he left his home. He growled lowly, startling some of the humans following him on their floating contraptions, Godzilla bet that the Stranger was taking some form of pleasure out of leading him around as if he were a pup. And with that thought, Godzilla decided to take his next course of action.
Diving down into the deep sea below, he focused his efforts on first losing the humans that were on his tail. As annoying as they were, Godzilla didn’t enjoy any unnecessary loss of life, and if he was going to confront this Stranger, then it was best to do it in a remote location. Godzilla dove deeper and deeper into the ocean and began searching for the underwater tunnels he frequently used to travel the planet. Once he found one, he entered and let its strong currents take him to his destination.
Arriving at his destination barely took any time, and Godzilla quickly exited the underwater tunnel and began his trek back to the surface. His dorsal spikes pierced the surface of the water first followed by his head. Looking around, Godzilla spots an island, and he swims towards it. Any animals near the beach begin to flee once they spot Godzilla approaching the island. Once Godzilla is close to the island he rises to his feet, displacing the water around him and causing some of it to go flying into the air. He snorts some air out of his nostrils and begins surveying the island. Thankfully, there were no sounds of human activity, just the blissful sounds of fauna all around the island.
‘Well, let’s get this over with,’ Godzilla thought before taking a deep breath and rearing his head back roaring out his Alpha Call.
“HEAR ME, STRANGER! I DEMAND THAT YOU SHOW YOURSELF TO ME AND STATE YOUR PURPOSE ON THIS WORLD, OR ELSE I WILL CHASE YOU UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD!”
Godzilla’s call echoed around the globe, shaking the very molecules in the air. One thing was clear, Godzilla wasn’t taking “no” for an answer. It took some time before Godzilla felt the Stranger’s presence become stronger, and clearer. They were not of this world, Godzilla realized, though he had already assumed that. They were unnatural, an invasive creature in the planet’s ecosystem, just like him . Yet, surprisingly, they had not caused any destruction in their wake. Godzilla would’ve found it interesting if it wasn’t for the fact that they still posed a potential threat to the planet.
Godzilla felt it before he saw it, a change in the wind, a small whisper in his ear telling him not to fear. The very clouds in the sky seemed to shift almost eagerly as if they were waiting to surprise him with an offering or gift. And then the Stranger appeared.
With unparalleled grace, a serpent-like creature bolstering an emerald hue and two arms descended from the clouds above. Their body slithered effortlessly through the sky, their red-tipped rudders flapping ever so slightly to allow them to fly so easily. Their piercing yellow eyes landed on the King, and they regarded him with intrigue and curiosity. Lowering themselves so they could be at eye-level with Godzilla, they then proceeded to relax and curl their body around empty air and assume an idle position. Godzilla eyed the position with interest. So, they were not looking for a fight? That would make this much easier, maybe he could even convince them to scram before they got comfortable.
“To whom do I have the pleasure of speaking to?” they asked politely.
Godzilla slightly stilled at the sound of their voice. It was a heavy, but gentle sound, it was wise, old, strong, and spoke of hundreds of battles. It was like his... father. Godzilla killed and buried that thought before it could even take proper form. No, this could all just be an illusion, a facade for hiding a greater evil.
