Chapter 4

Kayla set Luke down and landed beside him on the path leading through the woods. They thought if Ellie had been spotted yesterday hopefully she is camping out here and they may be able to find her. "Kayla, do you hear that?" Luke asked.
"Hear what?" Kayla listened nervously.
"That" Luke replied staying quiet to hear what sounded like an aeroplane flying scarily low above them. They both looked up.
"Shit" Kayla whispered "Come here quick" she forced Luke to hide behind a tree with her.

Kayla turned both her and Luke invisible and they moved around the corner as they heard the jet settling in the grass field at the edge of the woods. The door at the back of the jet opened gradually and Kayla and Luke both gasped when they saw who was walking off.

The auburn hair of Natasha Romanoff glowed as the sun rays reflected off it. Following behind her was no other than Captain America walking in front of his two best friends The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Kayla and Ellie were familiar with Black Widow as she trained them for a bit in the red room and Luke became quite close with the Winter Soldier through training him in Hydra.

Kayla snapped out of her gaze and started to panic because all she could think was that the Avengers were here to take Ellie and she could not let that happen. "What do we do?" Luke whispered to Kayla.
"stay quiet, try to figure out why they're here"
" how are we gonna do that?" Luke replied.
Kayla turned to face Luke "You need to speed onto the jet and try to find any info while I keep them distracted, okay?"
"Fine" Luke replied apprehensively.

Kayla let go of Luke, turning him visible again, and he sped behind the back of the jet whilst Kayla flew towards the Avengers talking at the bottom of the ramp. Kayla, still invisible, walked behind Sam's ear and began gently blowing into it causing him to jump and look around startled "What the heck was that!?" he shouted.
"What are you talking about?"Bucky asked him annoyed.
"Something just blew into my ear!" Sam shouted back.
"What?" Nat asked him unamused.

Kayla decided next she was gonna go for Steve. She walked behind him and quickly took the shield off his back and launched it across the field at the entrance of the woods. "Now I know you guys saw that!" Sam shouted.
"What is going on?" Steve said confused.
"I don't know but let's keep an eye out, just get on with the mission" Nat said urging them to start moving.

Meanwhile, Luke was on the jet and found out that the Avengers were here to capture Ellie and take her to S.H.I.E.L.D for questioning. After the Avengers walked off Kayla met Luke on the jet and he told her what he had found. They decided there's not much they can do except find Ellie before the Avengers do.

It seemed the Avengers had a lot more information and were likely going to find Ellie before Luke and Kayla so they planned to follow them until they saw Ellie then grab her and make a run for it. It seemed like a good plan until Kayla caught her leg on a branch and nearly tripped.

"Shit," Kayla said not so quietly.
"Did you guys hear that?" Steve asked his teammates.
"Yeah," they replied in unison.
"I've got a really bad feeling we're being followed," Bucky said.
"Me too" Nat agreed.
"Did you say it was only one of the three that was spotted here?" Sam asked Steve.
"As far as I know" Steve replied listening out for things around them.
"Well I've got a strong feeling there's more people than just us in these woods" Nat spoke.

Kayla sighed quietly thinking she and Luke were off the hook but as they took another step forward to follow the Avengers, Bucky and Nat exchanged a knowing look and turned around to throw a punch to the space behind them. Kayla panicked and let go of Luke's hand, to catch the incoming punch from the Widow, turning them both visible. Luckily Luke's instincts also kicked in and he caught the punch heading in his direction from the winter soldier.

Not even seconds after Kayla and Luke caught the punches they both began fighting. The Sapphire Soldier with the Winter Soldier and the Ruby Assasin with Black Widow. Due to their power advantages, Kayla and Luke were both winning. Kayla flew above Natasha and wrapped her legs around her neck then flipping her over to land on her back. Luke was using his speed to get fast unexpected punches on Bucky and Steve who had joined in to help. Sam was helping Natasha up when Luke sped around and wrapped all four of the Avengers around a tree with some rope he stole from a rope swing.

"Good job," Kayla said to Luke fist bumping him.
"Yeah thanks, but what do we do with them now?" Luke asked glancing over to the Avengers who were sitting there gazing at them with self-pity and shock.
"Tell me what you know about The Amethyst Assassin" Kayla demanded at them.
"We don't know shit, just that she's in these woods somewhere" Sam spoke up. Kayla sighed and looked towards Luke.
"What do you want her for?" Luke questioned.
"We don't just want her we want all three of you, just had no clue where you two were till now" Steve spoke to Luke, not answering the question.
"But why!" Kayla butted in annoyed.
"We were worried considering you just escaped Hydra, we thought maybe you could use some help" Natasha spoke.
"Bullshit!" Kayla shouted.
"Is it?" Bucky replied "Cause I know what it's like to finally be free from them and I also know that it's not easy"

Kayla and Luke walked away for a second to think. They agreed that maybe if they release them and they help find Ellie they'll consider trusting them. Kayla signalled for Luke to untie them. "We'll make you a deal if you help us find Ellie maybe we'll consider going with you to answer some questions," Kayla told them sternly.
"Deal" Steve said nodding to Kayla. Luke released them and they began to walk deeper into the woods.

"So how do you plan on finding Ellie?" Luke asked Steve and Sam walking in front of them.
"Well, Redwing here," Sam signalled to his flying robot thing "can detect human heat signatures, I'm gonna fly it ahead and see what it picks up."
"This better work" Kayla whispered to herself.
"Trust me we'll find her" Bucky slowed down and assured Kayla, she forgot he was a super soldier and had good hearing. Kayla just nodded lightly.

"Wait I think I've got something!" Sam shouted. "North-east of here in a tree, wait she's seen Redwing she's running west!"
"Let's split up, Kayla you're with Nat, Luke you're with Bucky and Sam you're with me" Steve instructed. Luke sped off ahead quickly.
"Wait for me!" Bucky shouted after him. Kayla giggled and rolled her eyes then she and Nat took off sprinting in the other direction to close in.

"do you mind if we fly, it'll be quicker?" Kayla asked Nat.
"How do you intend to do that" Nat questioned chuckling.
"Trust me grab my hand" Kayla took off with Nat dangling beneath her.
"Oh my god!" "since when could you fly!" "do not drop me" Nat screamed to Kayla.
"Okay okay" Kayla rolled her eyes towards Nat. They looked to their left and they could see Ellie fleeing away from Steve and Sam chasing after her. Kayla moved above Ellie and flew down to land in front.

"Ellie!" Kayla yelled "You can stop running it's okay" Ellie looked over her left shoulder and saw Luke and Bucky standing there. She let out a heavy sigh and ran to give Kayla a big hug.
"I thought I lost you guys" Ellie whimpered.
"I know but we're back now and don't worry about them" Kayla signalled to the Avengers behind them "They helped us find you we can trust them for now"
"Alright, you sure?" Ellie requested.
"Yeah, we're going with them come on" Kayla replied.
