We know nothing
but warm hugs and christmas;
starry eyed with laughter
wiped on our cheeks.

Simple at its best
no more than playing pretend,
and the sweet,
scent of rain.

Cats and coloring books,
of drawings and scribbles,
and colors outside the lines.

Let us teach you
of sleepovers, and
birthday parties.

With blue and pink;
matching pajamas and
stuffed animals,
that know of a lifetime
cherished,
in our arms.

The yellow tinge of the floorboards,
and red walls
covered in a mother's touch.

Toys thrown about,
and a click of a camera
that captures both of us.
One, yet not the same

We share tears,
and memories of playdates,
and long forgotten friends,
and dogs who know
nothing of me.

We share the same skin
renewed by age,
and without resentment.

The ups and downs
similar
but not the same.

We share the feelings
of beetles and moths
attracted to the light
of what little we have.

One simple and easy,
the other not without the curiosity
of knowing too much
yet too little.

We don't understand
nor know
yet we share all of it

A lifetime of memory
simple but slipping
away from our grasp

Murky in nature and
forgotten
yet valued just the same.
