Mia
"Do you like this?" Thomas asks while holding up a box of cereal. After a long car ride back to Charming he decided that it would be the perfect time to go grocery shopping.
"Yeah, those are good." I shrug. Thomas tosses three boxes of the cereal into the cart. "I'm not going to eat all that." I say for the tenth time it feels like. Every time I tell him I like something he throws a crazy amount of it into the cart.
He ignores me and motions for me to keep the cart moving, his back turned to me. This man even looks good from the back.
"Mia." I hear someone call my name, that can't be possible no one here knows me except for Thomas and his people. Even though I think I'm just hearing shit, I turn around to see who's calling me.
I turn and see an old friend from High School. Nigel. He is a few paces away from me dressed in an Army uniform. He has a fade with waves, just like how it was when we were in High School.
Nigel was one of my friends in High School. Me and him had been close, if you'd seen me you'd seen Nigel. Everyone thought we would be the two people out of our class to get married first when we graduated. Only reason we never took our friendship any farther was because my father was strict.
"Nigel?" I say not being able to believe my eyes. He looks good taller with facial hair, even his acne scars are gone.
"What are you doing in Texas?" Nigel asks, giving me a small side hug and moving away from me quickly.
I quickly glance over at Thomas who is standing closely behind me with a look of outright on his face, before quickly turning back around. The already thick grocery store air becomes thicker, making my hands start to sweat.
"Umm I'd come to visit family." I made up something, nervous.
"It's nice to meet you. You must be Thomas, I'm Nigel, me and Mia were friends back in high school." A small smile brightens his face as he introduces himself, his full attention off me and onto the man standing behind me. Thomas doesn't even acknowledge him, I don't even have to turn around to know he still has the same cold blank look on his face.
My eyebrows lift and my eyes widen, how does he already know Thomas? "Y'all met before?" I question them feeling like I'm missing something.
"No, I've been here long enough to hear about the Outlaws. They stationed me here about a month ago." Nigel explains giving him a small nod.
My first night encountering the outlaws was two days ago and I'd been here for longer than a month.
I guess whatever look Thomas is giving him has finally shaken him, because his eyes fully turn back to me. "Well, it was nice seeing you. You still have my Ig if you ever feel like catching up." Nigel waves before turning and walking away.
After watching him walk away for far too long, I turn back to Thomas and our cart. Anxious, I don't even let my eyes meet Thomas's. "What?" I say feeling his eyes stare a hole into the side of my face.
"Give me your phone." Thomas commands, standing over me. This man is insanely tall and he has a strong build to go with it. He looks half giant.
"Wh-" I don't even get to finish what I was about to say before Thomas's hand makes quick work of sliding my phone from my pocket. Tired, I don't even try to snatch my phone back. He won't get past the password anyway.
"Keep walking." He ordered, walking in front of me like we were before.
For the rest of our time in the store I watch Thomas throw random things he thinks I will like into the cart not even bothering to ask me anymore.
We get all the way to the cabin without him saying a single word to me.
Thomas is sitting on his couch, beer in one hand and my phone in the other. I stand at the side of the couch.
"Can I get my phone back now?" I'm not in the mood to argue with him.
It's like I haven't even said anything. He doesn't even look up at me. After being ignored, I go to walk away.
"Come here." Thomas's voice reaches my ears while I'm on my way to the staircase.
This time I am taken aback, my determination not to argue with him dissolved. I pause my steps for a second, not even bothering to turn around. "First you don't acknowledge me, then you're rude to my friend, you steal my phone, now you want to boss me around. Fuck you." I yell. Without waiting for a reply I stomp up the stairs to the bedroom we share.
