"Hey, Jiyoung-ah." The woman said to her friend over the phone.

"Mm, hey, (N/N)-ah." Her friend yawned, her tiredness getting the better of her after a twelve-hour shift at the firm. The law firm Jiyoung worked at, however, was not the same one (Y/N) worked at. (Y/N) worked at 'Jiang Law Firm' while she worked at 'Hanbada Law Firm'.

"I'm finished with work, wanna come over?"

"Is Minwoo-yah gonna be there?"

"He's literally always there; he just hangs around me. I don't get why you care about Min so much, you can't even talk to him."

"Whatever. What're we gonna be doing?"

"I need some ideas for my manhwa."

"I'll bring drinks."

"Okay, just hurry over here."

"Already here." The woman on the other line hung up.

Suddenly, a woman overflowing with energy burst through the door of (Y/N)'s apartment. A bottle of soju in one hand, and a case of beer in the other. "I'm here~!" It's crazy to think that this woman was yawning just a moment ago.

"Are you sure you need ideas for your manhwa? You seem covered." Jiyoung commented as she watched the artist draw on her iPad. She took a sip of her beer. "What's it about again?"

"It's a typical historical fantasy Manhwa."

"Oh. What's it called?"

"Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess."

"WHAT???? YOU MADE THAT???????"

"...Yeah?" (Y/N) hesitated. "What of it?"

"DO YOU KNOW HOW POPULAR IT IS?????"

"I guess it's a little popular."

"You're crazy humble..." Jiyoung mumbled as she laid her head against her hand. She thought about something for a minute before grinning. "No homo right?"

"Depends on what you do."

Jiyoung kissed her friend on the cheek.

(Y/N) nodded. "No homo."

"Isn't this non-con or something?" A certain male said as he crossed his arms.

(Y/N) looked behind her. "Hey, Min, you're up?"

"I think your friend is." He commented. "Anyway, yes, I'm done sleeping."

Jiyoung blinked. "Oh! You're talking to Minwoo-yah aren't you?"

"Tell her to stop calling me that." Minwoo glared.

"Why don't you like her?" (Y/N) asked the man.

"What..." Jiyoung deflated.

"No reason. Just don't."

"Good enough."

"Ah, I can't believe a dead person—whom I can't even see—hates me..." Jiyoung put a hand to her heart dramatically. She then stood up and made her way to (Y/N)'s pantry.

"I wouldn't say hate," (Y/N) told her friend.

"But it's the right word, isn't it?"

"Yeah."

Jiyoung scanned her pantry until something caught her attention. She noticed that the wall behind a basket of snacks seemed like it was a kind of secret door thing. She pulled the basket out of the pantry and took out the piece of wall. That soon revealed a small bin of orange bottles full of Adderall. "The fuck..." Jiyoung muttered as she picked up one of the bottles. "How the fuck do you have Adderall?! This shit's illegal!" Jiyoung turned to (Y/N), the medication in hand.

All (Y/N) said was, "I know a guy in Seoul."

"You should go to rehab." Minwoo remarked.

"What? It's not like I'm abusing it."

"Still. It's bad for your health."

"Womp womp."

Minwoo grit his teeth and began to cuss her out.

"I feel like I'm third-wheeling." Jiyoung commented as she put the bin back in place and went back to raiding (Y/N)'s pantry.

"Ugh, raid your own pantry. You're rich."

"Yeah, 'cus my mom sends me money—"  Jiyoung realized her mistake. "Ah... My bad."

"It's alright. I don't mind you talking about your mom. I like her." (Y/N) smiled. Jiyoung just nodded. "I'm gonna go to the restroom." (Y/N) stood up.

After entering the restroom, Minwoo confronted her. "Hey, why'd you forgive her? That was so insensitive."

"It's not like she meant to." (Y/N) told the ghost. "Plus, it's not like I mind hearing about her mom. I like Mrs. Park."

Minwoo stayed silent.

"Anyway, get outta here, creep." (Y/N) teased the ghost who of which quickly fled.

A few days later

"God, I fucking hate driving at night." (Y/N) sighed as she drove home. She used one of her free hands to rub her tired eyes. It didn't help that every person she drove by kept their brights on and didn't turn them off like a decent human being would.

(Y/N) just had a very long shift, and she was ready to crash into her bed and immediately fall asleep. Her eyelids kept falling and rising. She tried her best not to succumb to her tiredness.

She didn't even know she was traveling off her lane until Minwoo yelled at her. "(Y/N)! Wake up and get out of that lane!"

He was too late.

A semi-truck had already collided with her car. If Minwoo's yelling didn't wake her up, this definitely did. The cacophony of screeching metal and shattered glass was deafening. (Y/N) tumbled all around the vehicle before passing out.

"(Y/N)!" Minwoo called out, his desperate cries rang through the air, falling deaf on (Y/N)'s ears.

The vehicle was upside down. (Y/N) was bleeding from the head, and her leg was stuck. There was no way to survive.

Minwoo reached out to shake her awake, expecting his hands to pass right through her as they had done countless times before. But this time, to his astonishment, his touch met real, solid flesh.

Closing his eyes, he pulled (Y/N) close, his arms enveloping her in a tight desperate embrace. He didn't want (Y/N) to die.

A female figure gazed down at the two, the pitiful sight made her face fall. "Shall I do something?" The woman asked the tan-skinned man next to her.

"Do what you want." The man responded coldly. The woman's plump, two-toned lips curled into a warm smile.
