But hey, it couldn't hurt to try, right?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COURTNEY POV:
Once again, I wake up, make my bed and choose an outfit to wear. I place it on my bed for after breakfast. (pic on the top)
Once again, my parents are on a business trip, so I guess more blueberry pancakes for me. I get them ready again, the light, salty aroma hanging around in the air.
I finally go to my room, and change into my outfit, a chocolate brown top with a plaid skirt, a leather bag and mary janes, not forgetting my locket.
When I am putting my skirt on, I realise it is about 2 centimetres above my fingers. I stop in my tracks.
They couldn't give me detention right?
I mean, will they even notice? I really hope not.
DUNCAN POV:
I wake up, checking the time. School starts in half an hour. Wow, I woke up early for a change!
Getting together whatever's on my floor, I head to the kitchen, snag an Up n Go, my red converse and head out.
When I get to school, though, I am greeted by Ms Tremblay, the detention teacher. But everybody calls he Ms Trembler, because she is known to be the strictest teacher in Wawanakwa Secondary. I don't believe in all that bullshit.
She's got nothing on my dad.
'Duncan Tarun.' she says, in a strict tone. 'Aren't you supposed to be in science class right now?' She lets out.
'Science is for nerds, go to Harold on that. He's the biggest dork ever. Honestly, I think that dude lives in a lab coat.'
Ha, just thinking of that dweeb makes me snort. There's no way she expects me to go to science class with Dorris (ifykyk).
'Duncan Tarun! That is no way to speak of your peers!'
Once again, she sends me to detention.
Typical.
But, I was rather surprised to see little-miss-pole-up-her-ass sitting in one of the chairs. 'Hey there princess,' I say. The nickname's just natural, with her posh attitude and perfect grades. And her hair. Definitely her hair.
I am returned with an eye roll.
Damn.
This girl has got serious attitude.
'Attitude problems much? I say.
'Attention seeker much?'she snaps back.
COURTNEY POV:
Stupid school policy.
My skirt was simply 2 centimetres above my fingers, but I got detention for 'breaking the well set dress code that each and every student is expected to follow.'
I walk into the room, and immediately a shiver goes down my spine. I can feel a light headache starting to form, and the hair on my neck stands up.
These are all of the bad kids.
The kids who skip class, and vandalise the school, and vape.
I wasn't a bad kid, was I?
I see this boy, with fluffy jet black hair, and slight lime green highlights, and so many piercings that if you took them out, a trypophobic person would die.
'Hey there princessss' he says, eyes on my breasts.
Ew, pervert.
I roll my eyes and sit on the cleanest seat there.
'Attitude problems much?' he says. Was he raised without manners?
'Attention seeker much?' I shoot back.
While watching the look on his face and mentally laughing, someone screeches my name.
'WAAAAAAAAAAIT!'
Of course it was Heather.
I whip my head around, to see one of my best friends sitting a few seats away from me.
How didn't I recognise her before?
'Sit next to me,' she says. Happily, I weave around the maze of desks, until I find the one next to Heather.
HEATHER POV:
Hey, not gonna lie, but I think Duncan and Courtney would be cute. Just a thought!
COURTNEY POV:
She tells me about how she got detention for arguing with a teacher. I love Heather and all, but I couldn't even think of arguing with a teacher.
She told me about how the teacher was saying that Zeus was the most powerful god, and then that she stood up in disagreement, giving a bunch of reasons why Athena, Medusa and Hera were far more powerful than him.
Listening to her reasons, I'm starting to think that she shouldn't have got detention. All she was simply doing was expressing her opinion.
It was a bit aggressively, but hey, she was still voicing her opinion!
I tell her about how Mr Coy stopped me during science class and told me to put my hands by my side. And when I did, he gave me detention for breaking the dress code.
She tells me that this place is rigged, and that Mr McLean has favourite girls.
For example, when Lindsay wore a tube top with a super small skirt, he/ the teachers didn't do anything. But, when my skirt was 2 centimetres above my fingers, I get detention. I say that maybe the teachers forgot to tell her, or missed her, but we all know that's not true.
Don't tell anyone I said that!
DUNCAN POV:
Detention is the usual. Pure boredom. Just writing the same lines and promising to not break the school rules again. We all know it doesn't do anything. I'm pretty sure even the teachers know that.
But hey, at least I have a hot girl in the room with me.
