"And that's two potato buns for this handsome gentleman. Here's your change. Have a nice day!"
The old lady who owns the bread stall flashes Yunho a smile as warm and sweet as the buns in the plastic bag she handed to him. Yunho bows to her with a shy "Thank you." and makes his leave. His only idea of stopping by the market was to buy himself a snack before his morning class but there was something a little different about how crowded the market is that day.
The stalls around him are selling flowers, chocolates, balloons and even human sized teddy bears left and right, all wrapped in red ribbons with glittery heart shaped cards. Any normal person would've seen this coming on Valentine's day, but not for clueless Jeong Yunho who goes around rubbing his chin while looking at the stuff on display.
"Anything easy on the eye, sir?" The owner of the stall where Yunho was wandering at catches his attention.
"Sorry?"
"Flowers. Have you any idea what to get for your significant one?"
"Significant one who?"
"Your girlfriend, idiot."
Yunho turns to a random man holding a bouquet of flowers on both hands while observing them thoroughly. He sees the word Happy Valentine's Day! printed on the card on top of the bouquet and yelps.
"Oh! Valentine's day!"
"Oh~ Valentine's day~" The man imitates him mockingly, chuckling. "I feel bad for your girl, dude."
Yunho irritably glares at the man who made fun of him, watching him leave after buying his flowers. It's not that he doesn't want to buy flowers, he doesn't have anyone to give them to.
For the time being.
"So, what does she like?" The seller turns back to him after settling the purchase with the other customer. "Tulips? Roses? Baby's breath?"
"Sunflowers." Yunho says. "He really likes sunflowers."
The seller raises his brows at the unexpected information but remains calm and smiles. "On the left, sir."
Yunho follows the gesture to his left where the brightest bouquets of the stall sat, the striking yellow colour gleaming under the morning sun. He picks one up and sniffs the artificial fragrance, being gentle with the petals of the fake flowers. Obviously there was no way real sunflowers would be sold in hand-sized bouquets like this, but it's the thought that counts, Yunho believes.
"He's not here. Can I take a picture instead?"
"Whatever you like, son."
