KIARA'S POV
The sunlight knocked on my windows, snuck through my thin white drapes and demanded me to acknowledge its presence.
I opened my dark brown eyes to see bright rays of sunshine peeping through my big glass windows, brightening my light purple room as I laid in bed, still not fully awake.
My room was a display of a monochromatic purple paradise with pretty pastel lavenders and violets with just a few fluffy pink pillows at random places on the floor.
I got up slowly and rubbed my eyes , sitting on my bed , and throwing my floral sheet off of me. I yawned and stretched, then I let my thoughts take over me.
Mom and Dad were probably making breakfast right now. They usually get up around this time. I thought about their daily routine and how I almost never got to go to school on the first day because Mom and I had a big argument.
I didn't want to go to school on the first day because I was afraid and Mom had insisted that I needed to get out of bed and face my fears.
Dad had been too busy focusing on his own stuff to get involved but in the end Mom won and I decided to go to school. When Mom had dropped me off it seemed like a beautiful place. I couldn't believe that I was going to school in Japan.
Mom had thought that because the school was so cute and everything felt like a dream that maybe I wouldn't have a problem going to school. She was wrong. The kids were mean and cruel and I just kept getting bullied because I was Black.
They had giggled to themselves, they had laughed at me and everything I said, whether it was funny or not .
They never tried to know my name, but instead called me anything they wanted to.
On the first day of school Mom had told me how excited she was for me , she dropped me off, said that she loved me and then she left.
I had been about ten minutes early for school. I had started walking towards the big white building that towered over the cherry blossom trees and waved at the clouds with it's large white rooftops.
On my way towards the building I had seen a short girl with long black hair. She had been wearing a white hairband with a big pink bow perched on top of her shiny, straight hair. She had been standing in the middle of a group of kids , that had seemed enchanted by her presence.
I had decided that I would try to be friends with her because she seemed nice. I mean, why would she have had so many kids around her if she was a mean girl ?
I had told myself that I'd count to ten in my head , just to shake the nerves off then I'd walk up to her. At the time I was so stuck in my own head that I hadn't realized that everyone had just stopped and stared at me as I walked by them.
It wasn't until a small pink petal from a cherry blossom was carried by the wind into my field of vision that I realized that other people were around me, other people that were not the group of kids that surrounded the girl with the pink bow or the girl with the pink bow herself. They had all been staring at me with curious looks and disgust. The pink petal went swirling and seemed to be guiding my eyes to a tall boy with silver hair that was all the way up on the 7th floor of the school building.
I could see him through one of the big glass windows on the school building. He was inside , just walking by, his eyes focused straight ahead of him and nowhere in my direction.
I had looked back along the path I had walked to get to the spot where I stood now and saw that everyone that had been staring at me had began pointing and whispering.
The word foreigner had been repeated many times that day and I just knew they were talking about me . I also knew that nothing good was being said.
I had turned away from the people who stared at me and I had resumed walking towards the school building, my pace quickened and I had started staring at the boy with silver hair to distract me from everything else around me. His beauty had been a distraction. His face was truly worthy of attention.
