Time to get up

There was no end to the growing ominous silence. The boy looked at the adult man in horror. He also noticed that he was no longer at the house of his new friend Abi. He was in a strangely familiar shack that could hardly be called home. Mold on the ceiling, unpainted walls and cracked tiles on the floor. You could say that there was great poverty here. The man approached the main character and looked him in the eyes.

- You fucking drug addict - he said, then put his hands around the teenager's neck and started choking him - You think I can afford your stupid desires. You only think about yourself, you selfish shit!

The boy, while being severely choked, tried unsuccessfully to break free. He was thrashing around and trying to scream. Suddenly something caught his attention. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a small, scared, bruised girl hiding in the room under a table with tears in her eyes. The mysterious figures intensified again, only this time they turned the entire room red. Old hidden emotions intensified and finally came to light.

- I'll kill you! - the choked boy shouted with all his strength.

Suddenly he woke up. He didn't know what actually happened. What was that? What's going on? The teenager was now lying covered with a blanket on a soft gray bed in a dark room with a barely lit lamp. Sally was sitting next to him and looked like he was deep in thought about something. Finally, when he noticed the boy awake and terrified, he decided to speak.

- You clearly didn't have a good night's sleep - he said with a slight smile on his bony face - Abi is quite worried about you. She thought something happened to you when you fainted.

- What is this place? - the boy asked after a long moment.

- Let's start by saying that you shouldn't really be here. You should lie there outside and think things through without my help. If only Abi would listen to me.

- What do you mean think things through?

- People who come here usually don't know what to do with themselves. They are completely lost. Only a few manage to escape. Most turn into humanoid rocks, without any major emotions or feelings.

Sally stood up and walked towards the window. He was clearly lost in thought and didn't know what to do. The teenager kept looking at his gray robe wrapped around his body. Skeleton took off his glasses and looked at the hero again.

- You do realize that you're dead, right? - asked the host.

The boy didn't look surprised. He didn't expect it, but he felt that death was very likely in such a situation. To be honest, he didn't really feel anything.

- Is this hell?

- No, no - Sally laughed - You people can interpret this place as purgatory, where lost souls go. Of course, for me it's a relative concept. Abi once gave me an idea for the name Nowhere. I've been here for so many years and I haven't even thought of naming this world. Still, I think the name Nowhere fits perfectly.

There was a strange silence. None of the characters knew what to say next. They both waited for the other to speak. It's a really strange place. Even such embarrassing silences seem unreal and difficult to describe to others.

- Can I sleep on it? - asked the boy.

- Of course, my dear. Feel free to make yourself at home, and when you get up, we can go to the garden together and talk about flowers or other plants. But I won't bother you anymore.

Sally walked quickly to the door. He opened it and when he was about to slowly close it, suddenly the teenage boy turned to the large skeleton and said in a quiet voice.

- Tell Abi that my name is Kevin.

The host looked at the tired boy and nodded. He closed the door and left the teenager alone in the room as his thoughts intensified. Kevin looked at his poor hand. Is this what a murderer's hand looks like?
