Miss Akiyama

As I blink away the sleep from my eyes I realize I never finished copying down Nix's notes; I'm screwed. I look up at the clock to see if I have enough time to get the rest down and that's when it hits me; it's seven o'clock. I shoot up, "Phoenix! Phoenix get up we're late! Ooohhh shitshitshitshit! They're gonna kill us!" Nix says nothing, he just scrambles to do his morning routine. I begin to join him when I realize the lights never turned on, something was wrong. I get to the door and peek out into the hallway, the lights are on in the hall but not in our dorms? I finish getting ready before telling Nix.

I'm terrified as we head to the lecture hall for our level, no one's in there. All of a sudden the speakers screach from years without use, a scratchy and unfamiliar voice blares through it. "ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS, MEEN IN TRAINING YARD IN THIRTY MINUTES FOR AN ANNOUNCEMENT" Nix looks at me, he's just as confused as I am. We begin making our way down to the field; "what do ya think all this is about Frost?" Nix asks me, I shrug as we push open the doors to the walled in yard. The fake grass is matted and faded, there's a few other students out there already and a small stage in the middle the field. There's an unfamiliar woman bent over speaking to a student no older than five, she's in a suit with her hair in a long braid ending at the middle of her back; the student with her notices us and waves.

"NIXY! FROSTY!" she laughs, motioning for us to join them. Who is that again? Nix waves and drags me over, "hey nebula," he said as we got to them, right, the kid with the space quirk; Phoenix looks up at the woman, "I'm sorry but I don't think we've met, I'm guessing you're that old bat that got attacked last months replacement?" He asked, I swear he's just looking for a reason to get beat. The woman looked a little surprised but quickly brushed it off, "no, I'm the new commissioner. The names' Akiyama Honoka, and who are you two?" A new commissioner? Why's she all the way out here? There isn't any housing for another three miles. Nix straightened himself up and bowed, "I'm Phoenix;" he said, startled, "and this is Frostbite;" he gestures towards me. I quickly bow, "it's a pleasure to meet you Miss Akiyama!" She gives us a faint smile, "and your real names?" Nix and I look at eachnother, real names? Like what we had before our hero names? "Well, I'm 04 and Nix is 03" her smile faded, "don't worry you two, you won't get in trouble for using the names your parents gave you". What is she on about?

Nix tilts his heading confusion, "I'm sorry ma'am but our parents didn't give us names, were they supposed to?" Her eyes widened in shock; she turned to nebula, "why don't you go play with the others Sakura?" She nods excitedly before running to a small group of students not far from us. Miss Akiyama had a very serious expression on her face as she turned back to us, "stay here after the assembly; I want to go over your files". Weird request but alright; I nod my head, "yes ma'am".

As more and more students flood into the yard the new commissioner gets ready to introduce herself, there's quite murmurs of confusion and fear as she makes her way up the steps to the podium in the middle of the stage. everyone looks so confused, I watch a guard on stage count heads as Miss Akiyama prepared her notes.
