Today is the day my misery begins. After spending the entire morning rehearsing ballroom dances one last time, lunch going over the entire two week schedule with Jarolt yet again, and the entire afternoon simply getting dressed in this ridiculous outfit it's finally time to greet all our guests. I'm now standing before the throne in the great dining hall with a forced smile that's starting to hurt my face. The white marble has been polished so much the light bouncing off might blind me.
The room sparkles with beautiful candle light that invites the evening air from the open windows as the light chatter of our honored guest fills the hallway and flows through the doors. "Brace yourself," Jarolt whispers behind my right shoulder as we see the announcer position himself by the great ornate doors to the dining hall.
"Please welcome Princess Velia of the southern skies!" Fuck, here it begins. My misery for the next two weeks. The daughter and father enter the polished white dining hall, walking over to bow their greetings to me first before walking along to formally greet my parents before they take their seats at the long dining table. "Please welcome Princess Isleen of the northern winter kingdom!" Each lady is dressed up so much I feel I might go blind from all the sparkling jewels. Trying to show off their kingdoms wealth to me, all the while their bosoms are pushed up so far they're barely still in their dresses. "Please welcome Princess Astrea of the astronomers!" Every time one bows before me I feel their bosoms might fall out. "Please welcome Princess Verena of the Western Warrior Tribe!" All this bowing is beginning to hurt back. Being weighted down by all of my own embellishments. Not to mention how tight my suit is. Mother sure wanted me to look good for first impressions. The ladies seem to like how I look too. None have looked me in the face though, just at my own show of wealth across my outfit.
After all the guest are announced they begin to say their respective greetings to each other to keep up friendly appearances. "Please welcome Aria the Advisor!" Everyone turns to see Aria, along with Gelvain by her side, enter the room. Aria is dressed in a beautiful light gray dress with beautiful tiny gems sewn into the botise. Not as extravagant as the other girls, but definitely in better taste than before. Her hair is done up in a way I've never seen her wear before. It shows off the tiny square cut necklace she always wears beautifully. Gelvain enters in tow behind her in a similar armoured suit to Jarolt. They both walk over to bow before me. I am caught off guard as they both kneel instead to show their rank in our armed forces. I quickly ask them to rise before the guest take notice. Aria looks me in my eyes and lightly smiles.
"Good evening your majesty."
"Good evening," it's so refreshing to see a fimilar smile amoung the room. I suddenly feel like I can breathe.
"A bit over the top is it not?" She mentions to my dress.
"Don't get me started on it." I give a slight smile that makes the room grow quiet. Shit.
Aria definitely noticed because she quickly turns to go greet my parents. Shit. I'm so uncomfortable I can't think straight. The girls quickly begin whispering to each other. I'm already angry at the drama unfolding. All I did was greet her. Damn it! These people always jumping to conclusions. Pisses me off.
After the announcement that all our honored guest have arrived everyone slowly begins to take their seats at the long dining table. This table was made extra wide so I could sit at the head of the table closest to me and my parents would sit together at the other end facing me. Many of the fathers rush to the other end of the table to discuss possible business with my parents, while the daughters quickly rush to sit the closest towards me. Of course there is an order to things, so they're waiting to see who I ask to sit with me. All running up to shove there boobs in my face. I catch a worried look across my mother's face has the seats fill up next to my parents rather quickly.
My mother planned for Aria to sit next to her as her 'advisor' along with the others already seated near her. However, many men want to talk trade and quickly snatched up the seats before my mother could formally request enough seats. "Oh look, the Queen's little pet is lost is she?" The girls begin gossiping behind their ornamental fans. Many daughters, just like their parents, disdain my Mother. Meaning now they don't like her new rumored 'advisor'. I'm already pissed.
