Miles kicks the man's knee causing him to fall on the ground. Sarah and Rohan run outside, Jess drags Miles outside holding his hand and I lock the hellish door.
Silence takes over except the heavy breathing sound.

'WTH was that', I yell as I pant.
Miles sits down on the stairs. All eyes are towards him.
'Hey man, you okay?', Rohan puts his hand on Miles shoulder. And he nods as a response.
'Sarah, I think you believe now that this mansion is actually insane as much as you', Jess exclaims.
'Yes, I do', she does agree but the way she said was not assuring. It was as if she's agreeing to something that is in her head more than to the words that came out of Jess's mouth.
What is she thinking? Did she found the person behind all this catastrophic events that's been going on?
Ohhh she's such a mystery person even though she celebrates every single victory of her with me. I mean she does keeps secrets to surprise the hell out of me sometimes.
I think this whole situation is making me cynical.
'We need to find things, I mean tools. All the sudden shocking distractions are occupying us from making a plan', it's always Miles who comes up with a plausible idea.
'But every door we open holds a curse that makes us question ourselves if this is a reality', and am always the one who jinx's that idea. Why is he my opponent?
Cause he can never be your closest ally. Why do I have a negative subconscious mind?
'Right. But we survived and it's our only chance because nobody's going to come find us'.
'Riley I know you're worried about us but Miles is right this is our only chance, it's Saturday and I don't think if anybody wants to spend their Sunday with their family in a so called haunted mansion which probably is true', Rohan tells.
'Yup', is all I can say right now.
They all are thinking and talking about the whole thing.
I hope my mom isn't calling me. I hope she isn't worried sick about me. I hope dad will manage her anxiety. I just want them to have fun. Even though it's a business trip, I remember her saying that line again and again. Not that much of fun that am having though, I shake my head at my thoughts.
Should I tell them about the small funky knife am having? Nope, I'd keep that to myself, anyhoo that's not going to do any 'good cause' damage for us.
'So let's find the dirty old kitchen', Jessica says with a disgusting gusto face.
'What if we won't find any knives or anything', I speak out on the way to finding the kitchen.
They all halt and give me a death glare, every one of them is infuriated by me except Miles, his face holds a smile that says 'what do I do with this girl'.
I just shrug.
'The library in here holds a thousands of books so the kitchen might be full of utensils too', Jess says.
'O-okay', I don't push my negative thoughts into their heads. One insane person is enough.
'Where do you guys think the kitchen is? In the first floor or ground floor?', I can't keep my mouth shut sometimes.
'Ground floor'.
'Yeah', they all simultaneously say.
'You guys are not wrong cause I saw the kitchen beside the store room', I dramatically say.
They ignore me. Because we basically are heading towards there.
'Are you hungry?', I didn't see Sarah beside me. She must have come while I was talking shit out loud.
'Not really but am feeling bored'.
'Yup, you're hungry', she goes through my fanny pack and finds an energy bar. Ignoring all my 'hey, don't touch it. Am fine', she opens the wrapper and I eat it. Obviously I needed to eat something, cause boring is not something you feel when you're in a freaking haunted mansion.
'Sarah! You really think knives will help us out'.
'I actually don't know but we have to try'.
'Right. Trying is the only option to keep us occupied'.
She nods.
The kitchen's entrance is white, intricately carved and even though they're grubby they hold the charm to lure me in to study them. And the mounted wooden cabinets, covered in dust are incredible, so is the cooktop area.
'Wow', Jessica's amazed face is obvious.
The knives are on the counter, kept in a wooden knife holder, there are almost all the size I think.
I stride and take the second biggest and the smallest knife, I like the small one more cause it hurts a lot. After choosing their knives, we all head back near the stairs.
'If only that creepy guy wasn't in the store room, I think we could have found a chainsaw', Jessica says.
'Then why don't we kill him and search there. I mean we have tools', I say my thoughts out loud again, dangling the knives in my hand.
'We'll just make sure he really is not a human before doing that'.
'We never killed before', Sarah speaks in a low voice.
'And we've never been in this situation before either. Sarah I know it hurts to kill a person, more than painful actually cause you may live with regret which is the worst feeling but we're stuck and somebody might be planning all of this. If the person behind this is watching our every move then it seems likely that we would be freed...or not', I conclude leaving them in dilemma.
Sarah sighs.
'We'll think for some time or get ready to face the demon behind the door'.
They nod, but not satisfied with the plan.
'Me and Rohan will be in the kitchen, I need a moment to think or talk about everything with him', Sarah leaves with Rohan.
'I bet she wants to make out', Jess tells.
'Shut up', I know Sarah damn well to say that she would never think of making out in these circumstances. She's probably devastated to kill a person.
'I'll be in the library', I leave not wanting to be near Jess's mind.
'Of course', she throws her hands in the air.
'Hey Jessica come on, it's peaceful in the library', Miles and Jess follow me.
'This whole mansion is peaceful but still we ain't got peace', she whines.
I should've given a flashlight to her too. But I know she wouldn't have gone alone either way.
I look at the book under the dome but ignore it and move to get a book from the racks. I slide the ladder, hold the flashlight in my mouth and start my little venture to find a book.
'Ugh, I want my phone', Jess groans.
I find the book that covers all of my expectations, but cannot decide only by the title though. I need to get down and slide the ladder again to get it, am not that diligent. So I stretch my arm to reach it, as I struggle the flashlight hits the floor.
Ugggh Damn it!
'You could've asked me', Miles retrieves the flashlight. I descend.
'Yeah', am mortified.
After getting the book, I sit down on the chair opposite to Jess's and begin to lose myself. You ever use a book only to escape from whatever is going around you? That's the purpose of books sometimes, to get out of the unapproachable reality.
Miles sits beside me, reading a book himself.
He's just sitting. I mean there's only one candelabra on the table. No other chairs interested him, besides next to mine, that's normal.
