'I don't know what you'll find here, we're wasting time Riley am right about that', Jessica says.
Miles sits beside me and Jess next to him.
'Open it. Am sure Sarah and Rohan are okay', he tells noticing my anxious eyes scanning the book over and over.
I nod and turn the hard cover of the book. The title HM is printed in the middle. It says History Mystery below it. That's what the full form is. Who wrote it?
'History mystery, ha that's lame', Jess exclaims.
There is no Author name on the back or inside.
'I guess the person wanted to be anonymous for some reason', I say out loud.
'For writing such an awful title book'.
'Don't judge a book by its cover or "title" Jess'.
'Oh the author would've llloved you Riley', Jessica speaks.
'I think every author would've loved to keep you by their side for criticism and ideas Riley' Miles whispers.
Oh my gosh what? Nobody has said that to me, and coming from you is I don't have a word for that.
He likes you Riley, yay! My subconscious screams.
No, no way in every way. I ignore the butterflies trying to get out of the cage I put them in.
I shake my head and focus on reading the book.
'There once lived a family here, who loved each other so much. There were seven of them, Lily- mother, Zane-father, rosy and daisy- twins and their grandparents- Silia, Sasha and Philip', I stop after hearing my own voice saying my dad's name. Why Philip though? Anyhow.
'Tedious'
'You can sleep Jessica, I'll wake you up', I tell her.
As I dwell more into reading, Jessica's fast asleep and Miles is leaning on the table sleeping on his arm, eyeing me and the book.
'Silia's husband had died cause of an accident. She always spent her days sleeping, reading books outside on a hammock. But the family was happy, everything felt perfect after they'd spend time together exploring on weekends', I know am getting to know the people who lived here but will I get something out of this. Is it worth the time?
I can't choose now because it's been decided that no matter what I will finish this book. Skipping some pages won't hurt me. Am sure the family's lives were ideal. I ignore the five pages, fighting the demon in my head who wants me to quit 20 pages more. But I stop as my eyes caught these lines,
'This was the day, which made their brains go twisted'.
Miles gets up and stiffens his body beside me, he takes the book from my hand and moves the candelabra near to it.
He keeps his hands on the book so to turn pages and I cross my arms on the table leaning forward to read. I never would've thought that I'd be reading a book with Miles, together being this close. It's not the perfect time or place but do those matter when you have the right person with you.
