Back in the village
"Hmm... I wonder where Naruto has been these days. It's been a while since we saw him," a former obsessive Sasuke fan girl mused, twirling a kunai on her pointer finger.
"Hn," Sasuke gazed into the distance, eyes glazed over as he sulked.
"Hellooooooo, earth to Naruto's boyfrienddddd, wakey wakeyyyy time for SCHOOOL!!" Sakura called throwing the butt of the kunai against his head. The kunai bounced off, ruffling his hair, waking him from his stupor.
"Wha- huh?" Sasuke sputtered.
"Bro seriously, you've been sulking since he left the team, lighten up a bit will you?"
"But..."
"But nothing, get your ass up, we're going on a trip" Sakura stood up and grabbed with Sasuke's ears, dragging him off the fourth hokage's head.
"Where?"
"Hokage's office, we're looking for Naruto"
Sasuke's face blazed up, "Woah woah woah wait wait. I didn't consent to this"
Sakura looked at him incredulously, "Consent? Bro you've been pining for him for so long AND NOW you don't want to see him? Make up your mind idiot." Sasuke looked down, grumbling in complain but still relented to Sakura's dragging. Eventually they made it to the hokage's office and crashed in through the window.
"NARUTOOOOO! WHAT THE FU- oh." Hiruzen yelled before fading off after seeing the two. Sakura smiled, one hand still pinching Sasuke's ears which was getting concerningly purple. "Sasuke, Sakura, what do you both need? Also please dont learn from Naruto, he's the sole reason for half the konoha funds going to repairs for those stupid glass windows."
"LMAO, we came here for Naruto actually. Sasuke misses his-" Sakura starts before Sasuke shoves his elbow into her side gaining him a resounding "OoF!" "Heh, I meant erm, Sasuke and I miss him soooo we were wondering if we could meet up with him again? If hes free of course, we wouldnt want to bother with anything."
Hiruzen's face darkened hearing Naruto's name. A moment of silence draws itself out to eternity leaving both chunin nervous. Sakura spoke through their link, "What the fuck, did something happen to Naruto?? Is he in danger?? Theres no way right??""I don't know, somethings off."
The moment Sasuke's mental voice fades, Hiruzen speaks, "Naruto is... dealing with a mission at the moment. When he comes back I'll-" his voice is cut off from a loud crash from the door. Both chunin whip their heads around to find Naruto covered in scrapes and scratches with a limp Kakashi draped over his shoulders." The Hokage shot up. "What happened?"
Naruto was about to respond before he caught Sasuke's eyes and came to a halting stop, "What are they doing here?" Naruto asked, attempting to keep his cool in front of his former teammates.
"They wanted to see you, more importantly, what happened to Kakashi?"
"He was hit with Obito's genjutsu. For some reason, I'm not able to dispel it, his chakra is depleting and I have no fucking idea why," Naruto spat out. "Even my healing isnt helping." Hiruzen rushed over and slowly pried open one of Kakashi's eyes. It wasn't responding, seemingly dead.
"He's trapped in a genjutsu?"
"No, it doesnt seem like it. I was fighting Madara and completely disregarded Kakashi's presence alone with Obito. I should have known..." Naruto cursed himself.
"So he's alive. Our speculations were correct?"
"Yes, he's attempting to gather the tailed beasts. He tried to get Kurama but I fought him off"
"Was anything else said?"
'Nothing of importance."
"Hm. We'll discuss this later. Summon Tsunade, shes our next best bet in figuring out whats happening to him," Hiruzen ordered. Naruto nodded and shunshined away with Kakashi slung over his shoulder, not before shooting an apologetic smile at Sasuke and Sakura.
Sakura spoke up, "Is there anything we can do to help? We may not know whats going on but if theres anything we can do... Besides he's our sensei" She insisted.
Hiruzen shook his head, "Your sentiment is appreciated but you both are dismissed. Your missions are postponed as of now given... the circumstances."
Sasuke and Sakura glanced at one another before hesitating and eventually leaving the Hokage office. "What do we do?" Sakura worried, "Kakashi sensei looked like a dead man."
"He's probably at the hospital right now but I don't think there's anything we can do," Sasuke said as his eyebrows furrowed. Sakura nodded as they walked.
"Something big is happening though. Naruto mentioned Madara. Like the Madara Uchiha? And who's Obito?"
"Madara Uchiha was the founder of Konoha along with Hashirama but according to my father, they had gotten into some sort of disagreement and Hashirama killed him. I don't know how he's still alive though? Is revival possible?"
Sakura shrugged, "If some sort of revival jutsu was possible, I wouldn't be surprised, not after the first shock of Naruto being this all powerful being, oh and also the fact that you fell in love with this all powerful being," Sakura teased.
Sasuke shot her a displeased glare, "Hn... but in all seriousness, if Madara was really revived or something, I feel an impending war on our horizon..."
Sakura lifted her arm to shield her eyes from the afternoon sun, "Lets get stronger, Sasuke. Right now, we're too weak to do anything or even help if a war breaks out." She looked over at Sasuke, a determined spark in her eyes. "We need proper masters. I don't want to lag behind Naruto and I don't think you do either."
Sasuke met her determined gaze and sighed. "You're right. Let's catch up to Naruto."
