Empty Classroom
Quinn POVI grabbed some supplies I had out of my bookbag I was carrying, Jeremy grabbed some pencils to throw just in case the shooter came into the classroom, I grabbed some pencils too. Just then there was some noise from outside of the classroom, we raised up our hands. More shots could be heard.
The door opened slowly as a figure stood in the doorway. "Im not the shooter, is anyone in here?" the girl whispered, Jeremy walked slowly by the cabinets to look who it was ready to hit whoever it was.
"Hello?"
Jeremy peaked through and came in the doorway. "Cadence."
"Jeremy!"
"Quinn, come on out, it's Cadence from English class." I walked over to where Jeremy was. "Move the desks."
Jeremy and I moved the desks some for Cadence to come in and then shut the door again and put the desk back. We went back to the corner and started talking. "Who's shooting?" I asked
"I don't know. I ran when whoever it was started shooting." Cadence said. She had blonde hair in a ponytail and brown eyes, she was wearing a tank top and jeans. "Could you get any communication out?"
"I sent a message to my brother, Quinn sent a message to her Mom and sister that are in the school. We tried to call 9-1-1 but it wouldn't get through." Jeremy said. A bunch of more shots rang out as Cadence covered her ears.
I hugged Cadence and rubbed her back, as tears rolled down her cheeks. I was still crying. "We have to do something, we can't just sit here."
"No Quinn, we are staying here hidden. Where it is safe." Jeremy says
"So then what happens when it isn't safe and the shooter comes here?" I asked. "We have to fight before the shooter hurts anyone else!"
Cadence uncovered her ears and wiped tears from her eyes. "I agree with Jeremy she should stay here where it is safe for now."
I sighed. "Fine. We should look for places to hide just in case." They nodded and we got up to look around the room. We kept the lights off just in case. We could hide behind a desk, in a cabinet on top of the cabinet somehow. My phone buzzed as I took out my phone. Mom texted back
"Oh my god are you okay? Where are you? Are you safe?"
"Im okay for now. I'm in a empty classroom, I am safe for now, i'm with Jeremy and Cadence." I replied
"Okay I called the police and they are on their way. They said they had multiple reports even from inside the school."
"I'm scared mom. If I don't make it I love you and I appreciated everything you did for me,"
"Don't you dare talk like that. Stay hidden, or if the shooter comes to you play dead if you have to." More shots rang out. Screaming.
"I don't know where Phoebe is, I sent a text but i don't know if it went through."
"Your father said he was talking with Phoebe we are gonna head to the school, if you can get out. Get out. don't try to find Phoebe, her teacher will make sure they get out. I love you and I'll see you soon."
"I love you too, I hope to see you soon."
I slid my phone and walked to where Cadence and Jeremy were. "My mom called 9-1-1. The police are on their way, they are going to try and come down here. They said that the police had many reports from inside the school."
"I hope they hurry, and not take long." Cadence whispers
"I don't think they will take long." Again more shooting was happening and screaming. There was some screaming close like some students were making their way to the hallway we were at.
I look at my phone. 12:00. The senior celebration ended at 11:30. Oh god I want this to end. A buzz came from my phone this time from Phoebe."I'm in history, where are you?"
"I'm in an empty classroom in the E wing hall, there a lot of screaming down here. Please stay safe."
I looked at instagram again. Another photo was posted by the shooter, this time it was by Alex. The girl we tried to help earlier. The shooter was holding up a peace sign. The caption was written: "Me next to my Ex as she bleeded out." In the picture Alex was face down with blood everywhere. It looked like the shooter shot her a few more times.
Jeremy put his hand over my phone. "Don't look at instagram anymore, it's too much."
I nodded and put my phone away. "The shooter is gonna keep posting stuff it's too much." More tears came down my face, Jeremy was now crying too. "I just want to go home."
