Mrs.Murphy: History class
Phoebe POVThe shooter started firing into where our class was at. Bang, Bang, Bang. Screams erupted. My Classmates tried to get up and run but fell as they got hit by bullets. Some students tried to throw the pencils they had. I quickly laid down and closed my eyes. I could play dead, and hope the shooter doesn't pick us off one by one. I hid behind a classmate's body. I laid there for a few minutes as the shooter kept firing.
I could hear walking and some grunts from someone, and something rolled over. "Well well, I see Mrs Murphy is still alive."
"You are sick of doing this." I opened my eyes a little to see the shooting kneeling down grabbing the chin of Mrs Murphy's.
"I'm not sick I'm just doing the right thing." He gets up and raises his gun.
"Please N-" Shots went off and I flinched a little, liquid went on my face and landed on my clothes I think.
There were some footsteps, I waited for a moment before getting up. I opened my eyes and sat up a little. Blood was all over my clothes, I wiped my face as blood went on my hand. I was covered in it.
I looked around, the bodies of my classmates and teacher around me, in the corner by the back wall a figure was moving and I scrambled to make my way over. A boy was still alive. John is his name.
"John." I whispered and sat down next to him. He had gunshots in his chest, and one in his shoulder. I put pressure on the ones that were on his chest. "You're gonna be okay."
"P-Phoebe." John gasped for breath. "Get out of h-her-e."
John tried to move my hands away and I slapped them lightly. "No John, i'm gonna stay with you, your gonna be okay, we will get out of this together."
John started coughing, he turned his head to the side and coughed up blood. "Get out of here Phoebe." He said weakly "Before the shooter comes back."
I started closing his eyes. "I'm so tired."
Tears brimmed my eyes. "John you can rest now." He looked up at me as he took his final breath. His eyes still open he was looking up at the ceiling. A sob came over as I covered my mouth, blood leaving its mark on my face but I didn't care. I took my other hand away from his chest and then went and closed his eyes.
He is at peace now. I told myself. I got up and went by the door and carefully made my way through the desk that was on the floor, trying not to make any noise. I peaked out of the doorway, shots were ringing out and screams. I started running by the shooting looking in the classroom the shooter was in and ran past it. I had to try and warn a classroom somewhere, Maybe upstairs.
I made my way to the bottom of the stairs and climbed up running fast. When I made it to the top I started knocking on some doors lightly. "I am not the shooter and I'm not asking to come in, but the shooter is downstairs i think he is making his way up here next."
I said that to a few other classrooms until a door unlocked and I was pulled into a classroom, I ended up falling onto the floor as the teacher locked the door again. "Are you alright?" The teacher asked, motioning to my clothes and face.
"Yeah I am okay this isnt my blood." I looked around and students were in the corner. They looked like Juniors or Seniors.
"I am Mr, NeDoh." The teacher said, "I teach Senior English."
"I am Phoebe I am a Freshman." He nodded and motioned for me to go sit with my other classmates in the corner, Mr NeDoh kneeled by the door getting ready just in case the shooter entered this classroom next.
My phone buzzed as I took it out. It was all covered in blood. There was a Text from Quinn, some of the seniors had their phones out, some were texting someone i think, others were whispering on the phone quietly.
"Im okay for now. I'm in an empty classroom, I am safe for now, I'm with Jeremy and Cadence." Quinn's text read
I texted back. "Okay, I am now in a senior class, we will talk more later, but I love you, please tell me when you make it out, if you're with Mom and Dad, and I can't wait to see you and hug you again. I love you." I hit send and there was no delay, and had somewhat of a strong connection.
" If the shooter doesn't come to this classroom we need to get out soon and get to safety when the police arrive." Mr DeNoh said.
The seniors quickly nodded. The shooter was coming closer and closer. Bang, Bang, Bang. Screaming, and people saying 'Please No.' or pleading to be let go and the shooter laughing like a crazy person. He is a crazy person. Why would someone do this?
The shooting was getting closer and closer, footsteps could be heard from outside the door, getting closer and closer. We could see a shadow now walking in front of the door before it stopped. I held my breath waiting for the shooter to start firing.
He was just standing there I think, not doing anything. Some seniors gripped their bags or phone waiting. Waiting for the shooter to come into the classroom and kill us all.
