Scar's pov:

It was I want to say a good few months after the whole massacre at the dog fight and The inferno broke the news it was clear to anyone that there were not going to be any survivors so people started mourning the loss of their loved ones the animals survived as poultry man wasn't that cruel. Of course nobody really knew how the fire broke out not even I did. I started finding feathers everywhere.

Some blue some red some yellow they all had this white powdery coating over it. I had one feather a blue one that was clearly a flight feather honestly I was just thinking of poultry man as I was twirling the feather in my hand letting the light catch it.

' he marked you....' mumbo said with an almost apologetic gleam in his crimson eyes. ' welcome to our strange little world.' mumbo said as he patted me on the back sympathetically ' we'll most likely be seeing you more often in your civilian life' he almost sounded happy as he told me this. I let the memories play in my head as I was continuing to just stare at the feather. Gently running my hands over the soft barbs.

I was almost surprised that I remember what poultry man's feathers felt like and this one.... Almost felt similar not as soft. I sent over one of the feathers to the lab to see what the powder was on it. They said it was like flour or something to dye the feathers White.

I didn't realize how time flew by as I was just lost and thought. I didn't come out of my office all day today and I'm most likely won't go on patrol tonight so I packed up my things leaving the feather behind in my desk before I started to head out I locked up my office which I always did but still somehow found feathers and gears and such in there the next day as well as some stuff be moved but I checked the cameras and no one entered so I was a bit lost.

I started on my way out of the hero building but then I felt a presence next to me looking to my left I saw Xisuma " hey you have a moment?" He asked concerned and he was holding a little carefully hand-carved it box there was a note taped on top of it and it was for me but why was he holding it? " First off this came for you today but we tried to give it to you but you must have not been in the office. " He said handing me the box.

I had to shift my duffel bag over my shoulder to actually take it. " Oh... Thank you" I didn't mean to sound so hollow but that definitely made Xisuma more worried he eventually took off his helmet leaving his mask that helped him breathe on but he took off his helmet so I could see his eyes a bit better. " Mind if I walk you home mate?" I just kind of nodded I didn't mind.

I had to wait for him to change into his civilian clothes but by the time he did I was already ready to go looking through my phone. I looked up when he came back and he was dressed in a green hoodie with a dark purple undershirt and some black sweatpants. " All right let's get going I have to talk to you about a bunch of things. " Xisuma says as we walked out the box let out a small chirp which confused the hell out of me and him. I was tempted to open it but I decided against it as we continue to walk towards my home

" Are you okay scar?" He asks after about a minute of us walking once we are further away from the heroes building.

" Look... I'll be honest I know you were at that dog fighting ring. The one that's all over the news The blaze the massacre." Xisuma's words hung in the air, heavy with understanding and concern, as we continued our journey towards my apartment. His genuine desire to know if I was alright pierced through the walls I had built around myself, but I found myself unable to respond. The weight of my guilt and shame pressed down on me, rendering me speechless in the face of his unwavering support.

"Is it alright if I stay the night with you? I don't think you need to be alone tonight," Xisuma offered, his voice filled with reassurance and warmth. I could only nod in response, grateful for his presence and the solace it promised to bring.
