We sit in the hotel room, Sam and Adam at the end of each bed. I sit at the front of the bed that Sam is sitting on, watching him watch Adam work his way around the hand gun. He sets it to the side. "Sam, how did dad really die?" He asks quietly.
"A demon," Sam states. Adam looks confused for a moment.
"You hunted it down? Got revenge?"
"Dean killed it," he says, keeping his gaze on the gun in his hands instead of looking up at Adam.
"So it's over for you." Sam stops what he's doing and turns to Adam. "it's never over," he says. Suddenly the motel room's lights go off. "What the--" Adam starts.
"Shh," Sam hushes as we hear the sound of metal rattling. The boys stand up, then I do, Sam and I holding up our guns. "Stay here," he says, looking at me and Adam. He steps forward and hesitantly opens the bathroom door, not finding anything. The metal rattling sounds off again, making Sam turn back to the room. He waves his gun around, looking carefully. He stops his gaze when his gun is aimed at a register up in the wall, almost to the ceiling. He turns to Adam and I. "It's in the vents. Go!" We grab our bags in a rapid movement, rushing for the door. Sam shoots once at the register and then follows us out. We rush down the staircase. "Where's your car?" Sam asks Adam.
"Over here." He hands the keys to Sam as he pulls on his jacket. While he is trying to unlock the door, something jerks him to the ground. He falls to the ground. "Sam!" Adam and I both say from the passenger side, as we rush over to help Sam. Just then, the impala rolls up. "Dean, help!" Adam says as the older Winchester rushes out of the impala. We successfully pull Sam out from underneath the truck. Dean blindly shoots his shotgun underneath the truck. He pulls out the gun and looks under the truck. The Winchesters give each other looks.
Adam pulls his truck forward and Dean takes a look at the sewer tunnel, which is open. He sets his gun down and touches the side of the hole, lifting up his hand which is now bloody. He stands up and walks over to us. "I winged it. Did you see anything?" He asks as he walks by his little brother and puts the gun in the trunk.
"I didn't get a good look."
"What the hell is this thing?" Dean asks to nobody in particular.
"Should we go after it?" Adam asks, surprising me. The cold air makes his breath visible.
"No, no," Dean says. "In that maze? That thing's gone."
"Alright, so we don't know what it is, but we do know who it's going after: Joe Barton, Adam's mom--," Sam says.
"And Adam," Dean finishes. "It was under his truck, waiting for him."
"It set a trap, and I walked right into it," Sam says, disappointed with himself.
"It doesn't matter." Dean says. "There's a pattern. Joe Barton was a cop. I'm pretty sure he helped out dad. So we've got him, dad's girl, and his son."
"All the people dad knew in town."
"At least we know why it's back."
"It wants revenge," Adam says, causing his brothers to turn their gazes to him.

"Grab your stuff, we'll hit the road," Dean says to Adam as we enter his house, which is now a crime scene. One of the thing I love about Sam and Dean: they don't care about crossing over crime scenes. Sam flicks on the lights then sits at the kitchen table. Dean watches as Adam goes up the stairs, then he turns to Sam. "We shouldn't leave," Sam says as he rests his foot on a chair.
"Yeah, stay where the kid's mom got ganked," Dean says sarcastically. "Good one."
"I'm serious."
