During the night, the storm raged outside, pelting the side of the beach house with water and causing a ruckus with the thunder. Oscar was sound asleep, the storm not causing him an issue at all. In fact, he really liked storms because they made him fall asleep. Mer, though, was tossing and turning in his bed, trying to get some sleep. He couldn't keep the blankets on because they were heavy. He couldn't block out the noise and he tried to hold his breath for some reason but to no avail. The last time a storm came through, he was still in a haze and Oscar was there to save him, but now he was alone...
Oscar wasn't there.
No one was going to save him because no one knew where he was.
"No one is going to come for you because no one cares that you're gone!" a booming voice echoed in his ears.
Mer put his hands over his ears, the thunder booming outside and ringing in his ears like that voice. He felt hands touching his arms and he tried to pull away but they wouldn't let go. He screamed, one of the few noises his paralyzed throat would allow him to make, and fought against the hands trying to hold him down. He could hear someone calling his name but he knew it wasn't possible. Oscar wasn't there. He couldn't be there and it was just another one of her tricks...
He felt arms around him and he started to panic even more, knowing that he couldn't get away if he allowed the embrace. He went for the first thing he could and opened his mouth as wide as he could, chomping down on something soft. It wasn't much of a defense, but at least it would be enough to get them to let go and he could get away. As he bit down, he heard another scream and the arms holding him let go. Even though he could have left, fighting back felt like freedom and so he didn't let go. He held on and sunk his teeth deeper into flesh, growling and shaking his head like a crocodile on a gazelle. Finally, he couldn't hold on anymore and pushed himself away.
He did it!
He had defended himself...
He could leave and he could go find Oscar... He was free...

Oscar watched Mer as he breathed heavily on the other side of the bed with an expression of relief. Whatever he was battling in his head seemed to have lost to him and it helped him gain some semblance of peace. Still held up against the headboard of the bed, Mer relaxed and fell asleep sitting up, the storm outside also letting up and turning into a light drizzle.
Oscar, on the other hand, got up from the bed and went to his bathroom, turning on the light. His shirt was torn all over and he had scratches on his arms where Mer was fighting him. His ears were still ringing from when Mer screamed but luckily he got out of the way quick enough before he could yell directly in his ear, but the worst of all were the holes on his shoulder. Oscar took his shirt off and looked at the gnarly bite mark Mer had left him with. The teeth marks were deep, especially where the canines were, and there was a throbbing ache radiating down his arm. He walked back to his room and got his phone, looking up what to do with a bite wound.
He ran a rag under hot water and then pressed the wound to get the bleeding to stop and to clean it out as best as he could. He washed the rag out and then got another one, pouring hydrogen peroxide onto it. He squeezed the rag over the puncture marks, letting them bubble up. The site he looked at said that he shouldn't use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol but he didn't feel like he had cleaned out the wound at all without using them. He just wanted to prevent initial infection... He wiped the oxidized foam off of the wounds with the water rag and then poured alcohol on the other rag. He knew this was going to hurt even worse and so braced himself as he set the rag on his shoulder. The pain of the alcohol dripping into the wounds and the initial contact made Oscar want to scream but he didn't want to wake up Mer.
