Joey Santoro was familiar with the three far more than any normal sixteen-year-old should have to be. At thirteen, she faced the tragic loss of her father and younger brother, thrusting her into a premature adulthood. She had an older brother who kept Joey and their younger sister, Kiara, under his care whilst their mother proved herself to be unreliable in every way possible — but unfortunately, he was the most irresponsible piece of shit Joey's ever grown to know.
Joey was old enough at the time of her father's death and mother's disappearance to take care of herself and she learned how to do it well, but her nine-year-old sister was still just a kid who struggled to meet common ends. Despite her youth, Joey took the responsibility of helping Kiara with anything she needed.
But upon seeing her newly adopted mannerisms and hard-working efforts, Carter expected her to pull her own weight around the house, that being with earning enough money to help him with the rent and also in using some of her own earnings to take care of their sister.
However, no business would ever take in someone her age to work at their workplace since she was far too young, so he welcomed her into the business of dealing. All he had her do was deliver the drugs. She received the packages and got it to where they needed to be. And it worked out perfectly fine for two and a half years — but an unexpected visit from officer Beasley at her ex-girlfriend's apartment sent both girls straight to juvie and towards a journey full of heartbreak.
From being two girls in love, they went to hardly speaking to each other. But when a dangerous threat emerges, both girls are required to come together and work with each other to figure out what's going on. Along the way, they're forced to revisit old wounds and figure out if their story's completely over or if perhaps there's more to them than they imagined.
