While Adrien, the goblin, was comforting Marinette and wiping her tears away, a group of green, mean, and snarling goblins approached them.
"Let's have some fun with the lady," one goblin suggests. "Why should you have all the excitement?" another asks. "It's my turn to romance her," the third remarks.
"She is meant to be mine," another goblin demanded. "Hand her over, or I will kill all of you," about twenty more of them said simultaneously.
"Come on, lady. You've spent enough time with this imposter," about ten more of them said one after the other.
There were approximately fifty goblins surrounding them, all of whom were glaring at Adrien. They all get ready to attack him and attempt to steal Marinette away. "Leave him alone!" Marinette yells at them. "We have angered the lady, but that is too bad, we shall have our way with her," The goblins remarked. Each one tugged at her hair, spat on Adrien, and bit him. They laughed at the frightened look the couple gave them. "You call yourself a prince, prove your worth," The goblins mocked him.
Adrien brushed them off his back and stood up. He was taller than them all. Marinette gasped. She could have sworn he was shorter than her when they first met. The goblins looked at him surprised. "You are tall for a goblin, that proves you are not one of us," One said. "You imposter, how dare you impersonate one of our kind, human," The rest of the goblins remarked. It was clear they were riled up. "Shut up! You don't know anything," Marinette screams at the top of her lungs. Her voice was so powerful that three of the strongest goblins fell over and shook.
Jane heard the racket and checked to see what all the noise was about. She looked at the scene before her in sheer terror. She saw the hideous green goblins for what they were. She could tell something was different about the one that traveled with her and Marinette to this place than the others. She never knew he was taller than her and her sister until now. Now that he stood up on his feet he stood taller than even the tallest goblin.
"Hey, you nasty things, why don't you leave my friends alone?" Jane asked. "Ooh, it is another pretty lady," The goblins scoffed. "Are you here to harm us like she did with our three comrades?" The goblins asked as they pointed in the direction of Marinette. Six goblins abandoned the prince tramped in goblin form and Marinette to attack Jane instead. They tugged her hair, pinched her skin, and bit her. Three of them kissed her and two spat on her. They hated this girl. She was interfering with their fun. How dare she intrude on their battle against the imposter and the princess?
"You are no princess. You are nothing, but a scowly maid," The goblins mocked Jane. They despised her. They did not care much for the man who stood before them in goblin form either. Why was he green and snarly like them? "You be gone with you now, or we shall make you suffer," The goblins threatened Jane. Jane knew her screams were not as powerful as Marinette's but she was a good singer. At least that is what the villagers said before she ran to get away from the volcano.
"I may not have a powerful scream, but I can sing," Jane sneered at them. She saw that they did not believe her. "Ha, you sing, you are a weaker vessel than those other two," Ten goblins mocked her this time. "Weaker vessel, I have you know am I a proper lady," Jane argued. She stood as tall as she could for someone only five feet two inches tall. She smiled. She began to sing, "I was lost and you found me, found me, Found me. Yes, I was lost and you found me. Found me and took me in, took me in, took me in, took me in, took me. I was lost and found by you. Found by you. Found by you!" "Found by Yoooooooooooooou!" She bellowed out.
Sixteen goblins fell over dead at her feet. "What have you done, monster?" The rest of the goblins trembled in fear before Jane. They had not heard or seen something as strong as her before then.
"I laugh in the face of you dreadful beasts," Jane said. She laughed loudly. Two more goblins fell over. They were not dead but they groaned in pain.
The rest of the goblins ran from her presence and back to the cowardly young woman and the man. "Ooh, you must do something, we can't stand before her." The goblins begged mercy from Adrien.
Adrien sneered at the whole lot of them. "You can not forget it, you can here and attack my friends, and for that, you shall die. Every last one of you," Adrien threatened.
"You heard him, prepare to die," Marinette scoffed.
Adrien and Marinette both charged at the remaining goblins. Adrien had his sword in his hand and Marinette held the knife he had given her. Adrien thrust his sword into one after another. As they lay dead, the others tried to run away. Marinette caught up to them. She injured one with the knife and he lay there continuing to mock her, "One so pretty is not capable of such a bad feat." Marinette attacked him again and cut off his head.
Another goblin jumped on her back. Marinette felt pain and continued to fight. Two more died at her hands. The one on her back licked her skin in mockery of her beauty despite the attack mode that she was in against his friends. Then, he kicked her, pulled out his dagger, and poked her with it. Marinette felt blood gush out of the wound and was too weakened to fight anymore. She dropped the knife onto the ground.
Adrien witnessed what happened and was livid. How dare they do such a thing to his lady? He snatched up the goblin that stood on her back, and slit his throat. The others, the five that were still alive, Adrien gave this choice, "You shall either leave us in peace or join the rest of your family in death. Now choose!" He watched as they ran off into the woods never to be seen again.
He saw Jane passed out from the trauma of it all. He knew she would come too eventually. He was more concerned about Marinette right now. What had become of her? He held her in his arms. He brushed her loose strains of hair away. He wept. "Marinette, I love you. Please, please you can't go." He kissed her on the lips. He got no response. "N-no! No!" He screamed in agony.
The mouse came running. It stood up on all his legs and smiled. The mouse changed form to reveal the queen of the fairies. She was more powerful than the rest. Adrien did not notice her because he was full of sorrow. He closed his eyes. He couldn't bear to see her this way. His Marinette lay limp in his arms.
The fairy queen waved her hands over the young maiden's back, the blood returned to her, and the wound sealed up. The girl's breath came back to her and she coughed. She gathered the dead goblins to take them back to their village for a proper burial. She returned once the deed was done, and revived the unconscious Jane. She also healed the injuries Adrien had sustained defending them all.
She saw that the cow no longer gave milk. She waved her hands over it and the cow began to produce milk. She healed the welted flowers at the forest edge, and returned the homes to the squirrels, and other wildlife. She lifted Marinette out of his arms and touched her chest. There now her heart is healed, she thought.
Her work done, she left. She chose not to erase the memories about the goblins so that the young maiden might learn to appreciate the man who saved her life all the more. She smiled.
She thought, now for crying out loud kiss her like you mean it.
