Aires pov...
Crimson red tears streaked down my cheeks whilst the blood in my veins burned. Almost three years ago I was in the same position, having a necklace that was intertwined with me destroyed- the only difference was this time I was the one destroying it.
Sage killed me when she destroyed my necklace, one less powerful than the one in front of me. It killed me in an instant, I never stood a chance. But I was older, stronger. And even though it could knock me out for god knew how long, it couldn't kill me.
I was already dead- I had nothing to lose.
The building shook underneath my feet whilst I clung onto my chest, willing myself to hold on. The necklace was destroyed, but the strength it took was destroying everything around me, and I knew I had minutes to get out before it took me with it.
I threw open the door and stumbled out of the room, too weak to use my vampire speed to run, too tired to physically run. The best I could manage was stumbling my way through the building, banging into the wall with every step I took.
I was getting out, or both me and Gerard were going down together.
I flew down the spiral staircase and around the corner, not caring if anyone else spotted me. Bodies bashed into me as they desperately tried to flee, from what I didn't know. The ceiling was collapsing around us but that wasn't the cause of their panic.
As I stumbled around the corner and ran through fire, I understood why everyone was losing their heads. Not only was the building falling about but it was catching fire. It was almost poetic.
Darkness continued to cloud my vision, blinding me for seconds before I finally got my sight back. A sickening ringing sound echoed through my ears, making me sick to my stomach. I was slowly slipping under and I still wasn't out.
"No." Someone suddenly growled from behind me.
Whilst I was stronger, they were faster.
Their hand wrapped around my neck, slamming me into the wall and knocking the air from my wind as my neck slightly snapped. With a growl, I gritted my teeth and forced the bone back into place.
Dark brunette hair clouded my vision as her nails reached for me, clawing at me like a cat. A growl slipped past my lips as I kicked out my foot, hitting her in the legs and sending her tumbling to the ground.
She was wasting my time.
I couldn't see her face through the smoke, but as I crawled towards her I didn't care. I couldn't have her on my ass, it would ruin everything.
Her nails dug into the skin of my arms as I wrapped my hand around her neck and climbed onto her. I couldn't leave any witnesses.
I could barely see what I was doing as I used all my strength to grab her head and slam it back onto the concrete floor repeatedly. I could barely see her or who she was thanks to the blur and dark spots in my vision. Her long dark hair was the only thing I was sure of, it was the only part of her I could actually see.
Suddenly, her teeth dug into my wrist, making me flinch and giving her the opportunity to flip us over. Her catty nails reached out again at the same time my head suddenly started burning, as if my mind was being melted.
She was a witch?
Gritting my teeth, I forced the pain aside. I needed to get out, I didn't have time for this shit. A murderous scowl stretched across my face as I used all my strength to force myself up. Without wasting another second I grabbed her hair and yanked her towards me as I sunk my teeth into her neck.
