"Alright, we're here." Masato said, pulling the car over in front of the large fortress. "Remember what name you're going by?"
She nodded as she got out. "Ishido Kimiko, right?"
"Right. Then, good luck."
"Thanks!"
After that exchange, with her bag over her shoulder, she walked through the gates, eager to meet the genius playmaker everyone looks up to.
Upon entering, she was met by a man with long silver hair. Sakuma Jirou.
"Welcome. We've been expecting you." He bowed.
She returned the gesture. "Thank you for having me. I look forward to working with you all."
She was led to the pitch right at the center of the academy. There, the man she was hoping to meet the most stood tall among the other children who were doing sit-ups. Unlike her, they were actual students of the academy, and part of the soccer club no less.
She was the only guest.
"It's nice to meet you, Kidou Yuuto-san." She called out, bowing again.
He nodded. "Likewise. And your name is?"
She stood up straight and handed him the letter as she replied. "Ishido Kimiko. You can just call me Kimiko."
"A relative of the Holy Emperor, I take it?" As he asked, he opened the letter, signaling he didn't need a reply, but she decided to humor him with one anyway.
"Seems that way."
"... I see." He turned to the silver haired man. "Sakuma. Take over."
"Roger!"
With the children in the other man's hands, the brunette pulled her to the far corner of the pitch so they could talk privately.
He tucked the letter into his coat's inner pocket. "So, Ishido..."
"Call me Kimiko."
"Very well. Kimiko, what are these special abilities that I am supposed to test, precisely?"
She shrugged. "There's a lot, honestly..."
"And with that as my only clue, I'm supposed to bring them to their limit and report back my findings with as much detail as possible?"
She chuckled slightly, understanding the man's confusion. But, "Well, you are Kidou Yuuto-san, after all."
"Flattery won't help make these orders clearer." He sighed. "The one part I do understand is that your powers grow stronger the better you get at soccer, so that's a starting point."
"With Teikoku Academy's training regiment and your observation skills, the Holy Emperor expects quite a lot. Especially since nothing else worked so far..." She admitted.
"Nothing else, you say? What other methods have you tried?"
"I've gone to multiple parts of the world to train in all kinds of different ways, but while I do get stronger, I've never felt like I'm close to the ceiling." Her hand went to her heart. "There's something inside me that's waiting to come out. I can feel it."
"So it would seem." He nodded. "Alright. Then, I'll arrange a training menu with a level especially made for you. It'll be harder, heavier, and stricter than anyone in Teikoku has ever gone through, so prepare yourself."
"Right! I'll look forward to it!"
She was smiling as she said this. Back then, she had no idea just how much she would come to regret those words.
