An Unknown World

I woke up to a blinding light in my eyes.
My body felt a heavy and fatigued, but I got up nonetheless even though my bones felt like snapping in two.

"Well hi!" a semi deep boice sounded behind me.

"Where am I?" I asked the strange boice who was still behind me.

"You're in our hideout," He answered. "After you fainted, Marc brought you here because he didn't know where you live."

Where I...live...Marc? MARC!

I spun around to face a fluffy black cat.

"I'm Zooms, by the way. What's your name dear?" The black cat smiled casually.

"Sherry?" I said with a hint of question in my voice.

"Do you not remember your name? Is that why you said that questionably? Perhaps you have a small amount if amnesia," He trailed off mumbling to himself.

"No," I answered, "I'm just confused."

"Ah," Zooms padded up to me and sat down, his furry black tail curled around his paws, "I understand this is a lot to take in. We're a sort of special cat breed. Not a lot of cats talk the human language. This cat breed decided to keep secret as to avoid scientists from disecting us or what not.

"We also wish to avoid turmoil of any sort," he finished.

"Huh," My eyebrows furrowed, taking everything in.

"Not to worry, dear. We mean no harm," Zooms placed a fuzzy paw on my arm.
I looked into his amber eyes. There really was no harm behind them.

"Come," He stood up and beckoned to me with his tail, "Let me introduce you to the team."

As I followed him, I noticed we were in a large, hollowed out oak tree. Looking back, I saw how I was laying on a white mattress, all around the small tree, there were drawers and desks filled with supplies.

A little workshop was located not far from the hospital looking equipment, and had little gadgets and metal scraps scattered around.

As we made our way out of the hollow, which I had to bend slightly, but seeing how I was only 5'1, and the exit was only five feet off the ground, I didn't bend down too much.
I followed Zooms to a picnic table with three cats and-

Marc.

I clenched my fists together to try and stop my heart from beating fast by taking a deep breath.
It didn't work.

"Morning sunshine," The cat with spots, which I remember his name was Sam waved his tail. Marc leaned against a tree behind the picnic table, "Look who decided to join us." He smiled.

"Everyone, this is Sherry," Zooms introduced,
"She is now the second person to know we exist."

I just stood there awkwardly.

"Hey," Caesar said between bites of cheese squares.

"Team, Sherry. Sherry, Team," Zooms hopped on the table and took a cheese square in his claw and nibbled on it.

"So," he began, "I'm Zooms, as you know. I'm the scientist. That there," He pointed towards the beautiful silver tabby, whose pelt practically shined underneath sunlight, "Is Caesar. I taised her myself when she was a little kitten. She takes on very dangerous missions."
"She's also," Zooms was cut off by Sam, "Hella badass," He rolls on his back.

Caesar kicks him off. Literally.

"That's Sam," Zooms siggs while shaking his head, "He's the mechanic. Designed Caesar's color, and a lot of other cool gadgets."

Sam hops back on to the table, "Ya," He shoves a mug off the picnic table.

"Hey!" Marc jumps.

"Don't put it in my goddamn spot. This is my turf." Sam curls in a ball.

"Get off the table Sam," A flame-like fluffy cat with a bucket hat sits down.

"You're no fun," Sam grumbles.

"That's Corn," Zooms continues, "He's basically the leader of this whole shebang."

"It's an honor to meet you, Sherry," Corn dips his head towards me.

"Nice to meet you too," I let out an awkward smile to him.

I want to go home.

"And that," Zooms finishes off with the final introduction, "Is Marc."

"His name's Marcus but he likes being called Marc," Sam rolls onto his back once more, staring at the trees, "that's kinda reminding me of a marker...Marc, marker, Marc, marker..." His voice trails off.

Everyone just stares at Sam with the kind of expression that screams 'shut up' before they continued on with their lives.

"Well!" Zooms exclaims, "That is everyone-"
His voice is cut of by a piercing screech.

Everything moves in slow motion, I know what this means, something is trying to kill me.

I had to think fast, Sam's behind me, on the picnic table, if I duck, he'll get hit, if I don't I'll get hit. There had to be something I could do, so I let everything go silent for just one moment.

0.37699 seconds has passed by.

Focus.

0.577326 seconds has passed by.

Single it out.

0.864417 seconds has passed by.

Calculating distance-

I bent my elbow upward, keeping my hand not far above my torso, and just before it hit my kidney, I clenched my fist as tight as possible.
A searing pain courses through the palm of my hand.

1.973668 seconds.

I look down, everyone looks down.

An arrow sits inside my tightly clenched fists.
Sam, Caesar, Corn, Zooms, and Marc jump up into more alert positions. They stare in shock at my hand before focusing back in the direction from whence it came.

Before a second's gone, I charge forwards towards where the arrow came from.
I can hear the rustling of retreating footsteps. They're not fast, I can catch up.

Before I could do just that, A flash of purple zips past me, and there's a sound of struggle ahead of me.

As I near the spot where the rustling continued, I saw Marc holding a man with dirt all over his face in a chokehold.

Marc wore a purple hoodie, that was the flash of purple?

He's damn fast.

Before I can get a word out, the dirty man speaks, "Hiya Sherry."

I knew that voice.

I knew that goddamn voice.

He came back for me.

He came back for my head.
