What is love?

If you really think about it, do you truly know what love means?

You may think: "Well, love is when you feel attracted to someone and want to spend your life with them?"

Something along those lines for the majority of people. (No offense to the deep thinkers)

But no, it's much, much more than that.
Sure, biologically we do feel attracted to the person, and we do, in fact, want to spend the rest of our lives with that person in that case.

But attraction to looks fades. Slowly, but surely. It's like standing on ice. You know it's going to melt. Maybe not right now, but it will. And you will fall.

So when looks fade, is there anything else to catch you from falling into the deepest pits of the world?

Love, maybe?

Imagine a group of fish swimming together, creating a strong foundation below you when you fall. Each fish represents a different part of love. Just like these fish work together, love is made up of many small things that come together to create something beautiful and strong.

Let's talk about the different parts of love, shall we?

-

Let's take the first part: physical.

Did you think about their eyes? How they shine and wrinkle when they smile their brightest smile that's meant just for you?

Or did you think about their body?

Should be the first one.

You see, when you're in love with someone then you'll see past their body. You may adore it with all you have, and that's absolutely acceptable. But you'll notice all those other little things that no one would bother to. Their eye color, their facial expressions on different occasions, maybe that little frown they make when they feel upset about something or when they don't understand something.

Those little details matter. It's what makes them truly them. Because those little details are not meant for the world. They're meant for one person. For one person to see, to adore, and admire. You can't change those things, and that's the beauty of small details about a person.

To love is to notice everything. Studying your partner to the very brim. Because you're connected. Physically, mentally, and spiritually.

-

Part two: personality.

Did you think about the personality they put up for everyone else, or their true self they let show when they're with you?

Those two are really, and I mean really different.

One they're forced to put up.

It's like their wall of defense.

But the second one is when they're willing to break the wall to reach you.

Willing to let everything go, just so that you could see them.

If you're lucky enough to see the second one, then just know, they trust you.

Not just trust, like snitching or looking over your stuff. But trusting you with... them. That you will keep their heart safe from the cruelty of others. That you will let their heart cuddle up to yours and beat in rhythm alongside yours.
Trusting that your heart will share some blood with theirs when they're low on it and about to fail.

Trusting that you'll not judge them when they cry. That you'll be with them in their darkest times.

Trusting that you're that someone they can tell their silly jokes to. Do silly actions towards. Someone, that they can talk about their day too. And gossip with about annoying co-workers or just people in general.

They're trusting you to see them for them. Because you're connected. Physically, mentally, and spiritually.

-

Part three: spiritually.

Do you feel your soul aching for theirs?

Do you feel it just wanting to crawl out and intertwine with theirs?

For to love, is to be connected to the brim (please don't go down the dirty path on this one).

That means, connecting your souls.

What does that mean exactly?

To connect your souls means to become one. To become one with the person you said you would move mountains for, rock by rock. The one you said you would die for. Wait forever for. Be with forever.

To connect your souls is for your names to be written next to each other's in the book of life.

To be able to say: we are one.

I'm yours and you are mine.

My needs are your needs.

My heart is yours, and your heart is mine.

We are one.

-

There's one more thing too: intimacy.

For there should be no lust in that.

That's a natural human response, I know.

But you should try your best to deny that.

For there should only be love in such a sacred act.

For that is literally connecting your bodies. Physically, mentally, and spiritually.

-

To love is to be able to say: "If they were something fragile, forbidden to be touched, then I would spend my entire life building a brick wall around them. Just so that they could be safe. I would admire them from a distance, till the end of times."

That is love.

Did i cook or was i cooked? I feel like i was skinned and thrown in salt water.

This is just my take on what love is. A very short one too. (It's 2 am i just had a burst of motivation to write this.)
