I was enjoying the night in my house. I was eating chicken alfredo and rewatching Living Single with my close friends, Danielle and Regina. We were drinking, laughing, and having a good time together.
"Awe I wish Tasia was here.." Danielle mumbled, leaving me and Regina confused. I then began to feel the energy shift.
I then sat there, observing Danielle and how a weight of sadness began to take her over thinking about this woman. Who is Tasia? Why does the thought of her make Dani so sad? I guess Regjna was thinking the same thing because she shifted herself to take in the situation and determine if it was serious.
"Who's Tasia, baby?" Gina asked, taking Dani's hands in hers to give her comfort. Dani began sniffling, trying to form a sentence.
"She's my best friend. I love her with all my soul and her beautiful children, too. Her ex was an abusive man, and it filled me with anger every time Fantasia went back to him." She said with a shaky voice.
I then turned off the show to give her my full attention. "What happened, love? Is Fantasia ok?" Gina asked, searching her eyes for an answer. "I pray she is. I barely get to call her anymore because of that horrible hellhole she lives in. She has the money she has everything to leave. I just need to persuade her. I needed to show her that it was the best decision for her children, 'cause I care too much about her and them for something bad to happen." she sobbed, falling into Regina's arms for comfort, and she embraced her tightly.
I need to help Dani. I never like seeing one of my friends cry, and if that means I have to go down there with Dani to rescue this woman as she claims, then I will. I got up from the couch and walked into my room to grab my laptop and phone immediately. I then walked back into the living room, dialing a number.
"Who are you calling?" Dani croaked, sounding tired and defeated.
"My team. Gina set up a flight to.." I say, asking Dani to tell me where she lives. "New Orleans." she mumbled, confused about what I was doing.
"Are you sure, Taraji?" Dani questioned, now beginning to guess what I was referring to. "What the hell are y'all talking about!?" Gina asked, booking the flight.
"We are going to go get Miss Fantasia and her kids," I say, finally getting a call back from my team. "Hey this is Miss Henson, and I want all of my meetings on hold for a couple of days. I will inform you when I'm back on duty." I inform. "Yes ma'am, I will inform the board immediately. Enjoy your night, Miss Henson." he spoke, hanging up.
Dani had jumped off of the couch and rushed to give me a big and heartfelt hug. I stood there taking her warm imbrace in. "Thank you so much, Raji. I wouldn't know what to do without you." she said. As Regina sat on the couch, arms folded playfully. "I never get any appreciation." Gina chimed in, rolling her eyes playfully, making me and Dani chuckle.
"Come over here, love bug." Dani said, making Gina hop up quickly to join our hug. I think the two had some sexual tension going on, but I didn't point it out.
"I'm going to hit the hay guys. Y'all know where the pillows are, and if you need anything, go find it yourself." I left the living room to take a shower and go to bed. "Good night, love y'all!" I yelled before turning my lamp off. "We love you too!" they said in union, making each other laugh.
We have a long day ahead of us, so we better get prepared for what goes down....
