TARAJI

Sitting in my room looking through my literature book revising my homework, it's my favorite subject. It calms me, it's the only thing that has truly gotten me through the system. Ever since my parents left and I've been put in the system, reading is all I do. Some might call me a nerd, but I couldn't give a fuck about what people think about me. At least one good thing that my low life parents had taught me before they upped and left was that what people think about me never really matters unless I make it matter.

*bbbzzz*

The sound of the 6:00 alarm dismissed my thoughts, indicating that it was time to get up and get ready for school. It's the first day back after summer break, I'm now a senior in highschool, it's kind of sad but it excites me for the next chapter to come in my boring sad life. On the brighter side I get to leave this shit hole for good.

I like waking up earlier than everyone else, it gives me enough time to do everything that I need to do and still be early for class, I hate being late. I'm still in my bed, this is definitely not like me, but today I just feel extra lazy.

"It's time to get up Taraji" I say to myself mustering all the strength I have to roll out of bed.

I guess I didn't have any strength.

"Ah shit, fucking hell that hurt!" I quietly exclaimed lifting my  torso off of the carpeted floor, it's time to get ready.

The noise these stupid children make steady gives me a headache, I can't wait to leave. As soon as I stepped out of the noisy orphanage the cold morning breeze slaps my face, making me fully aware of my surroundings.

I normally walk to school but today as I said before I just feel lazy, so I decided to take the bus.

I walked to the bus stop with my reading book in my hand and my bulky backpack on my back. I need a new one but I can't afford it.

The noisy high schoolers make me aware that the school bus has reached. I get on to the bus and walk to the back of the bus, surprisingly nobody sits in the back, honestly it works for me.

"Hey orphan" the guy in the front calls out to me, he knows my name

"Hey baldy" I reply

"Damn why you gotta make fun of my hair" he playfully replies, doing an up and down brushing motion pretending that he has hair.

"Okay sorry rapunzel" I snickered, he's quite cool he even stands up for me when kids try to "hurt my feelings". Little does he know that these weirdos don't phase me one bit.

We finally made it to school, thankfully I had bought a pair of headphones with the money I had saved up.

Walking into the school with even more noisy, irresponsible and embarrassing children makes me ick, but I'm not here for them, I'm here for me.
