10 VOTES FOR AN UPDATE

ZURI

Jhene Aiko's "P*$$Y Fairy" blasted throughout my room as I sang along and slow danced, swaying my hips from side to side.

"GOT YOU SPRUNG OFF IN THE SPRING TIMEE, FUCKK ALL YOUR FREE TIME YOU DON'T NEED NO ME TIMEEE, THAT'S YOU AND ME TIMEEE, WE BE GETTIN' SO LOUDD THAT DICK MAKE MY SOUL SMILE, THAT DICKKK MAKE ME SOOO PROUD, OOOH, OOOOHH!" I sang along, forcing my vocals, but instead they came out in a raspy tone of voice.

I couldn't sing for the life of me.

I immediately stopped singing and cut off the music immediately the moment Dorian barged into my room without even knocking.

"UGHHH DORIAN! can't you fucking knock?" I cringed so hard.

"Man, shut up. You come bursting into my shit every other day." Dorian replied.

That was sorta true, but who cares?

"The fuck was you even doing?" Dorian questioned as he started to laugh.

"N-Nothing. " I stuttered in embarrassment.

"Man... I just came to tell you that Ma called me." He announced.

"What'd she say?" I asked curiously, as I sat on my bed.

"She said we gotta go over there for dinner tonight." Dorian answered.

"Ughhhhh what does she want anyway?" I asked.

It's not that I didn't wanna see my mom, because of course I did. It was just the fact that everytime Dorian was around, she'd shower him with compliments and I'd feel left out. She'd always mention all of the things he was good at that I couldn't do. It always seemed to rub me the wrong way.

"Hell, do it look like I know?" Dorian questioned as he sat next to me on the bed.

"Your dumb ass doesn't know shit." I mumbled.

"You be asking this same "dumb ass" to help you with them assignments, huh?" Dorian smirked.

"Dorian, leave me alone." I rolled my eyes.

"Matter fact, get out of my shit." I playfully pushed Dorian's shoulder.

"Nah." He shook his head.

"Get out! NEOW." I yelled into his ear.

"Do that shit again, I dare you." Dorian threatened.

"You think I won't? Tuh." I sucked my teeth.

"Man, whatever. Just make sure you ready in an hour, cause we gotta go." Dorian said as he got off my bed and left the room.

"Couldn't even close the God damn door." I mumbled before getting up, and slamming my bedroom door.

"So how's everything been going for the two of you?" Mom asked as she smiled at me and Dorian who sat across the table from her and dad.

"It's been fine." I answered as I looked at the food on my plate and twisted the spaghetti pasta around my fork.

I was just waiting patiently on the moment that Dorian would become the topic of the night.

"It's been great actually. Zuri has her space and I have mine so we get along pretty good, surprisingly." Dorian joked.

"Haha, are you sure she ain't bossing you around?" Dad chuckled.

I rolled my eyes in annoyance, before digging into my spaghetti and taking a bite.
