As I sat comfortably with Queen Anne by the warm and flickering fire, I found myself lost in the hypnotic dance of the flames. The music of her lady-in-waiting was soft and soothing, creating a peaceful atmosphere that made me feel at ease. At our feet, Anne's loyal dog, Dame, lay stretched out, enjoying the warmth of the blaze as much as we were. She was a beautiful creature, with her fur gleaming in the light, and I couldn't help but feel a kinship with her. I had always loved animals, and the sight of Dame lying there calmed me even more.

As we sat there, Anne broke the silence with an unexpected topic. She told me that my father was looking for a husband for me, now that my sister Mary was about to marry Lord Edward. I felt a pang of apprehension in my chest but responded noncommittally, not wanting to reveal my true emotions.

But Anne seemed to sense my unease and spoke softly, "I know you don't want to marry just anyone, and I want to help you find the right match. If you want to marry my brother, George, I can help make it happen."

My heart leaped at the mention of George's name. I had secretly harbored feelings for him for a long time, but I had never dared to reveal them. I was afraid of being rejected, and I knew that he was already engaged to Lady Jane Parker.

Anne seemed to read my thoughts and said, "George isn't happy about his betrothal to Lady Jane Parker either. If you tell your father that you want to marry him, I'll help find another husband for Lady Jane."

At this, my face flushed with hope. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Could it be possible that George felt the same way about me? I spoke softly, "I do like Lord George."

Anne laughed and put her hand on mine. "Then let's make it happen. We'll find a way to make your father see that George is the right match for you."
