Brokenstar pov
Brokenstar tried to ignore the ache in his chest as he watched Bluestar pad away from the Riverclan camp. He tried to keep his eyes on her until she was lost in a swarm of pelts.
Brokenstar often felt this ache in his heart whenever he was away from his beloved Bluestar, her ocean-like pelt and sky-like eyes made him feel like he was floating. He wished they could always be together and maybe even raise kits? No. That would be impossible. How could two clan leaders from separate clans possibly raise kits? They weren't even mates yet.
"Brokenstar, we need to figure out what to do with all this territory," Brokenstar's deputy Blackfoot said, jerking him from his longing thoughts.
"Ah, since we do not border Riverclan, we should give all this territory to Thunderclan. When we drive out Windclan we can have all their territory so why worry about this territory now." He replied, adding, "I'm sure Thunderclan will be more than willing to help us drive them out."
Blackfoot nodded, satisfied, and began to gather Shadowclan. Brokenstar padded away with them.
That night, Brokenstar paced impatiently at the Fourtrees, where just before Bluestar had left, she promised to meet him. What was keeping her? Impatience soon gave way to anxiety. What if a fox had gotten her or she got fatally ill? He had to see her.
He stood up and was about to go charging into the heart of Thunderclan territory when the sleek, graceful she-cat stepped out of the undergrowth, her eyes glowing as she saw him.
"Brokenstar!" She purred as she nuzzled him. He let out a sigh of relief and nuzzled her in return. "I hope I didn't keep you too long, my medicine cat Spottedleaf received a prophecy... could I confide in you?" She asked in a serious tone.
"Of course you can, you don't have to ask about something like that. What's the prophecy?"
She sat down next to him and Brokenstar curled his crooked tail around her. "'fire alone will save our clan'" She whispered in a gentle voice.
Brokenstar was mystified, he had no idea what that could mean. "I'm not sure..."
Disappointment shown on every whisker on Bluestar's stunning face. "Oh. That's alright" She said with a sigh.
"Don't worry," He began, curling his tail around her tighter. "I'm sure we'll find out together."
Bluestar nodded and the disappointment faded from her face as she laid her head on his broad shoulder. Brokenstar purred as they sat together, watching the stars.
