Sweet baby child
Please close your eyes
Don't look at this
Cruel pantomime
The sun is gone
But don't you fear
In darkness know
Your momma's hereNo matter what
I say or do
I hope this much
Is clear to you:
The stars will not
Be dim for long
Remember this:
I love youI've prayed to die
Above, Below
Where God is now
I'd never know
No end in sight
No stick to bite
I try to grin
I'm not alrightI told myself
"No, not today"
Yet still it all
Comes down the same
I'd burn it all
If needed to
Remember this:
I love youI I I I I I I I
They treat me like an object here
They torture me, they make you fear
I'm not the one who's in control
The jungle's taken its sick toll
I'm under now
I'm under now
I'm under now
I'm under now
You turned my hand, upheaved the land
The call recalled, God, understand
Police don't love you like I do
They're taking it away
They're taking me awayIf you were there
When I broke in
I don't think I'd
See you again
I'd understand
Though I did not
Remember this:
I love you

Something Unbearably Pretentious
