HER HAND REACHED OUT, raising up to knock of the door. She did it three times and waited until Max or anyone from his family opened the door of his house.

A few seconds later, a woman finally opened
the door, she's most likely his mother. "Good evening." Juliana greeted with a smile plastered on her face, making her dimples visible. "Is Max home by any chance?"

The woman raised an eyebrow in perplexion before nodding her head. "He is actually." She responded as she turned her head, calling out to her son in the living room. "Max, someone is here to see you!"

As the woman went back to open the door fully, letting Juliana inside the house, Max appeared from the living room of the house.

He looked surprised to see her, his eyebrows raised before he smiled. "Hey." He greeted her back as he leaned against the archway of the living room.

"Hey." Juliana repeated his word, smiling back as she took a step closer to him. She shove her hand into the bag, taking out a notebook that he lend her for history notes. "Here, thanks for letting me borrow it."

Max's eyebrows quirked up the moment he noticed the notebook she was holding out to him and smiled at her. "No problem." Max said as he took the notebook from her. "Plus, I knew you'll ask me for them at some point, it's no big deal."

"Julie, honey." His mother called out from the kitchen, placing freshly cooked food on the table. "We were just about to eat dinner," She told Juliana, glancing over her shoulder to look at the younger girl. "Come join us."

"Oh, no, but thanks for the invite, Ms. Cooper." Juliana shook her head to the side, signaling a no as an answer. "I promised my parents I would be home by five, besides, I went to Rosie's before coming here."

"Aww!" His mother frowned and furrowed her brows. "Then let's leave that for next time, maybe you can get your parents to also join too, but they're also pretty busy all the time, right? I mean, with your mother being a doctor and your dad the mayor, they don't have time for much."

"Yeah, they are." Juliana replied, before waving her hand for a goodbye. "Anyway, I have to go, it was nice seeing you."

"Take care." Her mother said and went back to preparing the table. Max opened the front door for his friend, watching her step out of the house.

A farewell slip out of his lips as she walked away, skipping down the sidewalks, a foot going in front of the other with a hop.

She listened to music the whole way to her house, letting out soft hums to go along with the tone of the song she's listening to. Once she got close to her residence, Juliana saw her father, Axel, outside.

He was talking to a man with messy black hair. If she remembers correctly, he's Vanessa's husband. Last week that same man came too, she heard her father call him Emiliano, so that just be his name.

Both men seem to be talking about something important by the look on their faces. Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly as she tries to hear their conversation, but it was futile.

As she got closer, Juliana managed to gain their attention. "Jules?" She heard her father call out her name, a hint of suspicion lingering in his voice.

Emiliano's gaze soon traveled to the female, his dark eyes meeting her emerald ones as his lips curled up into a sly smile.

Axel noticed the look on the other man's face, yet ignored it as he gave his daughter a questioning look and asked, "Where the hell have you been?"

Juliana gave her father shrug, not wanting to tell him about Max, with him being a bit protective with her getting to close with a boy.

It's not only her dad being like that, also her two older brothers. All three of them don't trust no guy with her, they think they're only with her for one thing only, so they scare off all the guys that are interested in her.

They did that to her ex-boyfriend, Samuel, and to be truly honest, she doesn't really care if he disappeared out of nowhere after the beating her brothers gave him. He did cheat on her with Lillian, he deserved that and more.

She tilts her head to the side slightly as she opened the front door. "Out." Juliana replied, and went inside.

Once she did, through the white panel sliding doors, she saw her brothers in the pool, they
were tackling each other to get the ball first.

"Hey, Julie!" Marcus yelled out from inside the water of the pool, pushing away Zane as he grabbed the ball. "Come play with us."

Placing her bag on the couch, Juliana walks out of the open sliding doors and signed. "No, thanks." She sat down on the edge of the lounge chair. "Last time I joined you guys, I almost drowned. I would very much like to die with I'm old and wrinkling."

Zane popped out of the water, wiping the water off his face as he leaned his arms at the edge of the pool. "Stop being so dramatic." He said, rolling his eyes while splashing water at her.

Grumbling, Juliana rolled her eyes as she saw the water from the pool landing on her clothes. "You're such an ass," She complained as she looked down at her shirt that was now a bit wet now.

"Just relax!" Zane said as he got out of the pool, shaking his head, droplets of water went flying everywhere. He grabbed her wrist, and pulled her into the pool.

Juliana let out a scream as she splashed into the water. It was freezing cold, and she resurfaced, gasping as she tried to catch her breath. "You idiot!"

She was fuming as she pushed her wet hair back from her face and tried to find her footing. Zane smirked and crossed his arms. "That's what you get for stealing my cologne."

Juliana let out a scoff and glared harshly at him, flipping him off while splashing water, clearly bothering by being thrown in the pool.
