SHE EVENTUALLY COOLED down and decided to play with her brothers for a bit, she doesn't have anything better to do anyways. Though, Juliana is second guessing herself because she got dunked twice into the water by them, again.
They always do this, these two are so competitive towards each other, Juliana is too, but not as exaggerating at them, they take it to a whole different level, it's like a fucking war.
Juliana, Zane and Marcus didn't get out until late at night. The moon shined brightly above them as they dried themselves off with the white towels that their mother kindly gave them.
As they head inside, Juliana saw her father on the couch with his laptop, probably doing work or something. With a sign, she went to her room and took a shower.
After changing into comfortable clothing, still not in her sleepwear, she began to blow-dried her ginger hair. Once she turned it on, Juliana heard a pebble being thrown at her window.
Her eyes flickered towards that direction and grew suspicious of who could it be. Her brow arched up and approached the window, wanting to see who it is.
She hung up the peachy pink curtains that were used to cover the view to her bedroom to prevent the neighbors to peek in. Juliana checked and her eyes widened a bit, noticing that it was Asher.
"Asher?" She gasped out in disbelief as she watched him put a ladder against the wall to climb up. Immediately, Juliana opened the window. "What are you doing here? And with that?"
"I need to ask you something, Julie." Asher said as she stepped away from the window to let him inside. He straighten his clothes and glanced at her as Juliana sat down on the edge of the bed.
"What is it?" She asked with a questioning look, not knowing what he wants to know. Asher pressed his lips together in a thin line, as if debating if he should continue with this.
In the end, he decided to go with it. Asher is already here, so he might as well go with it. He took a deep breath and sat down next to her. After staying silent for several moments, he finally spoke, "What's going on with you and Max?"
"Uh-" Juliana cut herself off, she's not really sure how to respond to that even though the answer is clear. "No, there's nothing going on between me and him, we're just friends."
"Really?" He questioned with a hopeful expression, his voice slightly cracking towards the end of the word. "Nothing?"
"No, nothing." She replied, and with a bit of hesitation, she grabbed his hand, her fingers playing with his. "Why are you asking?"
"For no reason." He quickly said, averting his gaze from hers. "I was just curious, that all." She bit her lips to stop herself from smiling, Juliana had a suspicion that he's jealous, but she kept her mouth shut.
Juliana scanned his face, seeing how his embarrassed expression turned serious as he looked out the windows. "Who is that?" He asked, pointing his finger at something.
Behind a tree from a distance, there was someone with a black hoodie taking pictures of them. Their hood was on, so he couldn't tell who it was, and it couldn't help that it's dark outside.
"Huh?" She got confused and scared by what he was talking about and puts her attention to the thing he's trying to say, but there was nothing there. "What am I supposed to look at?"
Asher stared at the area where that person was standing for a while and looks away, his eyes meeting hers. "Nothing, I'm probably imagining things."
"Don't say things like that!" Juliana gave him a pouty face, raising her hand to slap his shoulder. "You scared me, Asher."
"Sorry." He chuckles, apologising to her as his own hand reached out to grab her wrist from hitting him playfully and wraps his fingers around it loosely. "I didn't mean to scare you."
Juliana blushed a little, her pouty face went away, instead she had a soft expression on her face, she looked down at his fingers wrapped around her wrist, and she was tempted to intertwine her fingers with his but she stopped herself from doing so.
"You better not have," She mumbled, staring down at their hands, the feeling of his warmth against her skin was causing her heart to thump rapidly and butterflies in her stomach.
Asher was holding her wrist gently, his eyes traveled to their hands, he then raised his head to look at her, staring at her pretty green eyes. He noticed her flushed cheeks, and he smiled slightly.
Suddenly, a knock on the door made them separate themselves immediately. She took her hand back and they both stood up, due to the surprising bang on the wooden door.
The doorknob turned, making it obvious that someone wanting to get in, which made them nervous. "Julie! Open the door!" They heard her mother from the other side. "Why is it locked? What are you doing in there?" She asked, knocking once again.
Asher and Juliana quickly glanced at each other with a panicked look on their faces. "Shit." She cursed under her breath and grabbed his arm, instantly alerting him.
He gave off a confused look, not knowing where she was taking him to hide. She opened a door, revealing to be a restroom. "Hide here, okay?"
Asher nods his head, his eyes flickering around the smaller room. The walls were painted light pink, floral patterns decorating it, everything else was matching with the theme.
"Wow..." He whispered, his lips curling up into a small smile as he leaned against the counter of the sink. "You really like pink, huh?"
"Yeah, it's my favorite color." After giving him a grin, she closed the door of the restroom and opened the other one. There her mother was standing with her arms crossed, her face serious and firm.
All Juliana could do was smile was her awkwardly, not really trusting herself with her words that was just at the tip of her tongue.
