The day after Capture the Flag , that afternoon was .... Something.

I went outside my cabin to find a newspaper. The newspaper basically accused Percy for the disappearance of his mom.

Pity filled my eyes as I read. Apparently Percy had this step-father, Gabe Ugliano. From what this reporter wrote—It didn't seem like who ever this Gabe dude was... wasn't the greatest—.

I shoved the newspaper into my drawer, and went to sleep for that night.

°

I was called upon from Chiron for a potential bodyguard. Just in case I had to hold Percy back from sucker punching Mr. D, knowing Grover wouldn't.

When Percy approached I was leaning against the Big House, watching as Chiron and Mr. D played pinochle against  two invisible figures.

Mr. D was so focused on the game, but he did notice Percy. "Well, well," he sounded as cold as usual. "Our little celebrity."

Percy waited.

"Come closer," Mr. D said. "And don't expect me to kowtow to you, mortal, just because old Barnacle-Beard is your father."

Thunder flashed across the clouds. Thunder shook the windows of the house.

"Blah, blah, blah," Dionysus said.

I crossed my arms as D-Man spoke. Before as Mr. D basically threatened Percy, wanting to cause harm to him.

"Spontaneous Combustion is a form of harm, Mr. D." I replied to Mr. D's comment.

He looked back at me. "Nonsense," He said. "The boy wouldn't feel a thing. Nevertheless, I've agreed to restrain myself. I'm think of turning you into a dolphin instead, sending you back to your father." He glared back to Percy.

I snickered.

"Mr. D—" Chiron warned.

"Oh, all right," Dionysus relented. "There's one more option. But it's deadly foolishness." Mr. D rose, The invisible players dropped their cards. "I'm off to Olympus for the emergency meeting. If the boy is still here when I get back, I'll turn him into a Atlantic Bottlenose. Do you understand?
And Perseus Jackson, if you're at all smart, you'll see that's much more sensible choice than what Chiron and Cassidy feels you must do."

Dionysus twisted a playing card, making it his security pass. Snapped his fingers, and disappear. The air folded around him, leaving a gush of wind from his now gone figure.

Chiron smiled at Percy. "Sit, Percy, please. Grover, Cassidy, you too."

We did, Grover took the seat Mr. D was sitting in, and me and Percy took the invisible figures seats.

"Tell me, Percy," he said. "What did you make of the hellhound?"

I shuddered at the name and pain that was still lingering on my shoulder, even after Percy healing me.

I could tell that Percy wanted to lie, he wanted to joke around and be happy... just like a kid should. Instead he replied with terror in his voice. "It scared me. If you, Cassidy, hadn't pushed me out of the way... or you, Chiron. If you hadn't shot it- I would've been dead."
