As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the river bank, Collin and James couldn't shake off the unsettling encounter with the mysterious man from the past. Their minds buzzed with questions and unease as they pedaled back towards town under the fading light of dusk.
Arriving home, they were greeted by their worried parents, who were awaiting them with furrowed brows and tense expressions.
Sensing their sons' unease, Collin's mom enveloped them in a tight embrace, her voice filled with concern.
"What happened out there? Why did the police have to come?" she asked, her eyes searching their faces for answers.
Collin and James recounted their strange encounter and the confusion and fear that gripped them as they had come face-to-face with the man from another time. Their parents listened in silence, their worry deepening with each passing word. The boys' dad, a stoic man of few words, finally spoke up, his voice grave with caution. "Are you sure it's all over? That man—there was something unnatural about him. I can't shake off this feeling of dread."
The unease in the room grew thick as night settled in, shrouding the town in a blanket of darkness. Collin and James' mom glanced out the window nervously, as if expecting something sinister to emerge from the shadows.
The sudden blare of sirens outside shattered the tense silence, sending a jolt of fear through everyone in the room.
Rushing to the window, they saw police cars racing past, their lights flashing wildly as they sped towards an unknown destination.
In that moment, a sense of foreboding gripped Collin and James. The man from the past, the undead figure they had encountered by the river, seemed to linger in their thoughts like a haunting specter. The phone rang shrilly, cutting through the tension like a knife. Collin's mom answered, her face paling as she listened to the voice on the other end. The words that followed sent chills down their spines.
"It's the police. They say the man. He's escaped."
Panic seized the room as Collin and James exchanged a silent, desperate look. The warning given by Officer Bob echoed in their minds, urging them to stay vigilant and safe. But as the noise of sirens drew closer, a sense of dread settled over the boys, knowing that the man from the past was out there, seeking who knows what dark purpose.
As they huddled in fear, the shadows of the night loomed large, concealing the lurking danger that now stalked the town. Little did they know that their night of terror was far from over, and the true horror of the man from the past was yet to reveal itself in the chilling darkness.
