His eyes almost pierced me with their cold gaze, but I stood up to him. An almost frightening grin twitched across his lips, and he took a step closer, although he still remained behind the bars.
"So, you are the source of ultimate power," he said. His voice sounded rough and slightly broken, while he exuded an arrogance that I had rarely seen before. But his assumption was wrong. He didn't know that I had no control over my magic, that it worked as it wanted and that I could only use some of the powers effectively until I found a way to deal with this enormous capability. But that was his problem. The dark lord's bad luck. Perhaps they should have done their research better.
"Well, I must say, being chained up in a dungeon doesn't exactly scream ultimate power to me. But hey, what do I know?" I replied with a sarcastic undertone, still not breaking his gaze.
He let out a scoff, but his grin never left his lips. "You're not exactly in a position to be so cheeky, witch".
I rolled my eyes and looked to the side, at the floor beside me. "It's going to take more than a few chains to shut me up..." I muttered. Although I had said this more to myself, the guy had heard me.
"I guess you're right about that," he said. "I suppose we could have just shoved something in your pretty little mouth to make you shut up, but that would have been boring, wouldn't it? I think I have a better idea."
He pulled out his wand, pointed it at me and muttered "langlock"
The spell did what it was supposed to do in seconds and my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. I was only able to make sounds, but what I said was no longer intelligible. This only made the dark-haired young man laugh.
"As I mentioned earlier, you're hardly in a spot to misbehave. However, since you happen to possess the information I require, I suppose you could consider yourself rather fortunate today.", he said, waving his wand once more. "Finite incantatem."
Just as quickly as my ability to speak was taken away, it was back, and I used it. "You asshole," I hoisted and pulled violently at the chains again, without success of course.
"Whatever," he just said and started to walk slowly up and down. "Let's simplify this, shall we? You divulge what you know, and I grant you a swift exit from this ordeal. Alternatively, should you persist with this attitude, I can assure you a far less favorable outcome. I will extract what I need, though the process will be... considerably less pleasant for you. The choice, witch, is entirely yours."
I scoffed. I didn't even know who this guy was, and now he was already threatening me. But what else did I expect from a Death Eater like him? I was a prisoner in chains and in a cell, not a guest. I wouldn't give in so easily to his attempts to intimidate me, that's for sure.
"Ah, the classic villain monologue. How utterly predictable. But I must admit, your attempt at intimidation is almost entertaining. Almost." I commented and smirked. I saw his grin slowly fade and his eyes filled with anger and hatred.
"You really shouldn't have such a big mouth, little one. It's obvious who's in control here," he said. I was about to give him the next comment, but suddenly he stared at me again, deep into my eyes, and a stabbing pain shot through my head. I knew what he was doing, he was trying to use Legilimency on me. Luckily, I wasn't too weakened yet, luckily, I was more than skilled enough in the art of Occlumency to defend myself from the invasion of my head, but I had to admit it wasn't that easy.
When we had practiced it and Caleb, the only one in our family who knew Legilimency, invaded our heads, he often didn't go too hard, as we usually had a hard physical training behind us by then. The Death Eater in front of me, however, had obviously no interest in my well-being, no interest in sparing me or anything like that. I did my best to stop him from seeing my thoughts, but the headache lurked for a while after he finally gave up.
