❝Brianne's dad was stupid pretty. The kind of pretty that made people treat him differently. Her mom used to get really upset at him for flirting. Which wasn't fair. It wasn't his fault. He really loved her. He really loved them all. Her dad always wanted her and Cassie, to become a professional ice skater.
Brianne loved being on the ice. She could skate her life away on the ice. She would spin and twirl and play along with Cassie. She never truly wanted to do more, the girl always had an interest for fashion. That didn't mean she didn't continue to skate. Or at least for the time being. Her dad couldn't afford lessons, so he stopped encouraging them.
When Brianne and Cassie hit puberty, which was about the same time, them and their mother became best friends. 'Your an angel' Suze would say to both girls. 'I feel like a big baby' Cassie would complain. Brianne didn't mind it. She liked this new way of expressing herself.
'You two are perfect' her mother would say as Lexi beamed over the day she could become just like them.
But as she changed, the rest of the world did too. People, oddly enough her male family, would give her long, touchy, hugs. It would be awkward and all the girl could to was nervously chuckle a laugh along. Things weren't perfect. Her mom had, you know, some issues. And her dad struggled to keep a steady income. And they fought. n the way all parents kind of fight. Except for the night before she started ninth grade. Her mom told her that her dad was just being irrational.
He used to visit them on weekends. But, eventually, it became once every couple of weeks. And then sometimes, more than a month would go by. Then one night he was driving home from work, crashed, and was in the ICU for 23 days. The doctors were afraid he'd never walk again. But both Cassie and Brianne knew he was strong, and that he'd get better. It was like some weird ass twin telepathy or some shit.
Anyways, He was prescribed fentanyl for pain. Promethazine to offset the nausea. Liquid Lorazepam to sleep, and Imitrex injections for migraines. Brianne wouldn't really text him, just the occasional check ups. Deep down she was kind of hurt about what a crappy dad figure she had. However, Cassie would text him and talk to him. But as more time went by, the less responsive he became. And eventually, months went by, and she didn't hear from him at all. Until one night, a week after her and Brianne's 15th birthday, she got a text from a random number at about 1:00 in the morning. And even though she was excited to see him and wanted to hug him, there was something about the whole thing that scared her.
