Aiden watched in the crowd for his family. Of all the days he wanted them around, today was the day. He was nervous and wanted them there so he could relax a little, knowing that they were watching him take the biggest step in his life, so far.
He sighed when he didn't see them. His parents were probably on their tenth "honeymoon", their fifth created little Taylor, who is only in second grade. His grandmother lived in Australia, both of them. He had no grandfather, on either side.
He looked again and was surprised to see Aunt Jazmine in the row closest to the stage, not front as that was reserved for the teachers. Her husband, Jake, and daughter, Hayley, were right near her. Hayley was on Jake's lap laughing. A two year old can laugh at anything.
"This years senior class of 2033, everybody!" The crowd cheered as Principal Harvey announced everything.
The speech given by the principal had people smiling and cheering. It made Aiden less nervous as he had a calm audience for his valedictorian speech. He wanted his family there for that. They could have at least showed for that. But, they never did. Not like they cared, he was just a mistake.
"Give it up for valedictorian, Aiden Irwin!" Everyone clapped.
Aiden stepped on stage and his eyes widened at what he saw: His parents holding a huge sign and his little sister on a chair clapping. Meme and Gigi were clapping to their hearts content. Aunt Gloria was right next to Uncle Luke, baby Carissa in her car seat. Uncle Calum and Aunt Delilah were there, Ryan being in his class, but they cheered him on like their own son. Aunt Jazmine started whistling and Jake put Hayley on his shoulders, her screaming his name.
"Uh, thank you?" He laughed as he scratched the back of his head. The crowd laughed with him. "Uh, this year was probably the easiest of my school career. Yes, Taylor, even easier than your second grade work." Taylor laughed. "It had it's ups and downs. But, every down, had two ups to make it all worth it. To make it to graduation." He smiled as he saw his mum recording. "If I've learned anything from all my years of school: it sucks. I'm not going to sugar coat it. It really does suck.
"But, we can't do anything about it. No matter what we do, it's always going to suck. I learned, good friends, nice teachers, and friendly faces are what get you through the year. They are what make you want to go to school every single day. They are what make you try.
"My mum and dad, they helped, a lot. They taught me to make smart choices, like go to school, eat your vegetables dangit!, or even that it's okay to cry. Trust me, we all cried during our calculus homework at one point!"
The crowd laughed, his mum blushed, and his dad just held her in his arms and took the recorder.
"But, it rocks. To stand up here and actually see all the people that have helped us through our school career. I think I speak for all the seniors of this graduating class when I say, 'thank you for all you've done.'"
He smiled and sat back down. He saw his mum wipe tears of joy off her face. Taylor stood up first, clapping her little hands to a beat. The beat she and Aiden made when she was sick in the hospital just last year. A beat that meant, "Brave."

"Look at you! You're all grown up!" Jenna cried as she hugged her eighteen year old son. "I can't believe my baby boy has grown up to be a man!"
Ashton laughed. "Jen, he's not a man until he has sex. You know that."
They never knew about Aiden's sex life, and never did. Until, "This is Lexi, my girlfriend."
Aiden pointed to the pregnant girl who stood by his side. She looked, at the least, six months pregnant. Jenna gasped and Ashton smacked Aiden upside the head.
"Didn't I teach you how to put a condom on properly years ago?"
Jazmine laughed at Ashton's statement. She walked up to him and patted his back. "Maybe he forgot. On his living room couch. Just like his father. Who, may I add, is a wonderful father." She smiled at him and Ashton hugged her. She hugged him back.
It was nice. Not to have everyone fighting. It took over fifteen years, but they finally did it. They all put the drama, fights, and anger aside. They were a normal family. Well, no. They were far from normal. They laughed about all that happened though. It made a great story to tell the kids.
"What's a condom? What's sex?" Taylor pulled at Ashton's shirt. Being seven, she still had no clue.
Everyone looked at each other and said, "Nothing!" in perfect unison.
As everyone laughed at little Taylor, Jenna leaned into Ashton's ear, smiling, and whispered, "This all happened because I got Pregnant By My Sister's Fiancé."
