Kayla's POV
Grace and I always read books, and during our free time on weekends, we would meet up for a little chat about the book. The chat was always about which characters we liked, trying to figure out mysteries, and stating the parts we liked the most.
I sat on a bench across the school's field, absorbed in my book. Grace and Simon had convinced me to come over to the field and watch them play badminton. Lately, Simon and Grace had been spending a lot of time together, and it was becoming apparent that something was developing between them.
"Hi, Kayla," a girl's voice greeted, making me look up immediately. It was Ruth.
"Hey, can I help you?" I asked, feeling a bit creeped out. Ruth coming up to me was unusual.
"Yeah. I really need a favor from you," she paused. "Lily's birthday is tomorrow, and she is throwing a party. The problem is that we don't have a venue yet," she sighed.
"And how is that my problem?" I said, rather irritated. What business do I have with them throwing parties?
"We've already told everyone there's a party and mentioned it would be at the Gardens Hall, but we can't throw a party there without Madam Principal's permission. Kayla, can you please ask your aunt to allow us to throw a party there?" Ruth requested.
"Why would I help you? You can go ask the principal yourself to permit you guys to have a party there," I stated.
"Come on, Kayla. I know Lilibeth and Emmy are always mean to you, but please help me out with this one. I promised Lily that I would take care of the venue, and you are my only hope. I'd really appreciate it if you could help me out," Ruth explained.
"Fine, I'll ask her," I said and then turned my eyes back to my book.
"Umm, it's really urgent. Would you mind doing it now?" she mumbled. I picked up my phone beside me and called my aunt. She wasn't at school at that time, busy with her resignation. She picked up immediately after the first ring. I put my phone on speaker.
"Hey Kayla, how have you been?" She greeted.
"I'm good, Auntie. Can I ask you something?" I sighed.
"Yeah, go on sweetheart."
"There's a student throwing a party tomorrow. Can they use the Gardens Hall?" I asked.
"You kids and parties, don't you get tired of partying? The students can use the hall, but the one throwing the party should report to Ms. Jade. You guys shouldn't cause any trouble," she stated.
"Okay, Aunt."
"No drugs allowed. You are in charge. I'm calling Jade right away. You should also go to her." She hung up.
"Thanks a lot, Kayla," Ruth said happily.
"Let's go see Ms. Jade," I sighed.

"I can't believe that I'm attending Lily's birthday," I rolled my eyes. Grace was helping me zip my dress.
"I'm glad you are. Who misses parties? At least we are going to have fun today. You won't spend an entire evening on a novel like you always do on Saturdays," she smiled.
I turned to the mirror to see how the dress looked on me. It pushed my boobs up, making them look way bigger than they actually were.
"You look stunning, babes," Grace commented. She wore a long, straight navy blue dress with straps capturing all her curves. She had her blonde hair in a messy bun. On the other hand, I wore a strapless red dress. It had a big slit from my upper left thigh to my left foot. The dress was tight, so I had the whole of my left thigh exposed.
