"I already did what you asked. A long time ago. You have nothing against me. If you keep pressing me, I'll tell everyone the truth," Simon hissed, his voice sharp and low, his eyes narrowed in anger.
Emmy's lips twisted into a mocking smile, a cold laugh escaping her. "And do you think they will believe you? Do you think Grace will believe you? And then get back with you? You know... Do you know how ridiculous you sound? This is so hilarious," she laughed, her voice dripping with cruel amusement.
Simon’s jaw clenched, his fists tightening at his sides. "It's worth giving it a try," he spat back, his voice full of determination. "It's up to her to decide if she'll believe me or not. I'm tired of going around carrying all that crap in my heart."
Four Months Ago
Emmy leaned against a tree, watching from a distance as Mia, the new girl in school, stood amidst a circle of five boys. Their leader, a burly guy named Ben, towered over her, but Mia seemed unfazed, her expression focused and confident. Emmy narrowed her eyes, straining to hear their conversation over the rustling leaves and the distant chatter of other students.
"Just to confirm," Ben's deep voice cut through the air, "how exactly do you want the attack to be like?"
Mia’s eyes flickered with a cold, calculating gleam. "The attack shouldn't be that brutal. Just something to ruin her party," she replied, her tone nonchalant. "You'll think of something, but it shouldn't be that serious."
One of the other boys, Damian, looked unsure. "What if it turns out to be something serious?" he asked, glancing at Mia nervously.
Mia waved a dismissive hand. "As long as she doesn't die... You get what I mean. Just something to teach that bitch a lesson."
Emmy watched as Mia handed Ben a wad of cash. Ben’s face split into a grin as he counted the money. "700 Euros," he announced with a satisfied nod. "I assure you everything will be under control. It'll turn out just like you want."
Mia nodded once, curtly. "Yeah. Now, do your dirty work." With that, she turned and walked away, her steps brisk and purposeful.
Emmy waited, her heart racing, until Mia was out of sight. Then she approached the group, her expression filled with a mixture of smugness and eagerness.
"Nice work, boys," Emmy began, a sly smile spreading across her face. "I knew that this girl would approach you with such a favor. I didn't know someone else would hate Lilibeth like I do. And now I'm going to use it for my own benefit. Lilibeth will finally get a taste of her own medicine." Her voice dripped with malice as she spoke.
Emmy’s mind raced with the possibilities. She had befriended Lily to climb the social ladder at school, but deep down, she had always envied her. Lily’s clear skin, full lips, dense long hair, and goddess-like body had always stood in stark contrast to her own insecurities—her perpetually acne-ridden skin, the layers of makeup she had to wear just to hide the imperfections, and her white hair, her greatest shame. She had dyed it black to cover the color she despised.
"How did you know she was looking for people to do a little bit of dirty work?" Ben asked, his curiosity piqued.
Emmy shrugged nonchalantly. "I heard her talking to herself. I've been keeping an eye on her since she got to this school." She then handed Ben a small bag. "Now, as for the payment. It's 200,000 Euros. I'm not stingy like Mia."
Ben’s eyes widened as he peered inside, a look of disbelief crossing his face as he saw the thick stacks of cash. "200,000 Euros?!" he exclaimed, his voice nearly a whisper. "We are rich!" he laughed, sharing the bag with his friends.
