"In three days, you're going to be old enough to get a driver's license. And that way, you can just drive me around in your bougie expensive car." Yeona says as yet another person shoves us through the busy train, "instead of subwaying everywhere."
It's true—In three days it's my nineteenth birthday and that's pretty significant. Nineteen is when you get to drive, drink, vote, and officially become an adult.
The gravity of that knowledge hits me like a wave.
"That's crazy."
I have three days left of being a teenager. After that, it's a brand new chapter of my life. But at least for now, it's not yet my birthday. It's someone else's birthday.
"It's finally our stop, thank God." Yeona says, taking my hand and stepping out of the train car. "Do you think the others are already there?"
"Obviously. We were late because you forgot to set an alarm."
"It's literally the weekend, I just forgot. Only freaks like you wake up early on Saturdays."
I ignore Yeona and speed up our pace, not wanting the others to wait for long.
A few minutes later, we finally arrive at Lotte World Adventure, the theme park where we planned to celebrate Hyunjin's birthday. Sure enough, the others are all waiting by the gates.
"Hi guys!" Yeona exclaims, running towards them, "Happy birthday hyunjin!"
"Thank you Yeona."
"Happy Birthday Hyunjin!" I echo.
"Thank you Sooyun."
"Are we super late? It's Yeona's fau—"
"It's okay, Changbin also just got here and Seungmin came a few minutes ago." Minho assures.
"Oh, cool. So...is everyone excited?"
"Yep. But we do have to wait for one more person..."
"Huh?" Yeona wonders, exchanging confused glances with a few other members of the group. "everyones here though."
"Just wait. He said he's going to be here...like..." Minho checks his phone, "now."
And like a true miracle, we all turn around and there, walking towards us, is none other than...
"CHANNIE HYUNG!" Hyunjin screams, running towards him.
My mouth opens in shock but quickly morphs into a smile. With the others, we all follow Hyunjin and attack Chan with a group hug.
"Ack! I can't breathe!" he gasps.
After a few lengthened moments of suffocating the older, we all pull away with wide smiles.
"We missed you hyung," Jeongin chirps.
"I missed you too."
"This is the best birthday ever!" Hyunjin exclaims, "I'm so happy you could come!"
"Me too! Of course I'm not going to miss your birthday. If it's on the weekend."
"Does everyone have their tickets?" Minho asks, followed by nods.
We all make our way to the entrance to get admitted into the theme park, chatting while our tickets are getting scanned. We pass through the security check with ease and finally, we're inside the park.
"So, what are we doing first? Do we want to go on rides?" Chan asks.
"Hold on. It's eleven, and in an hour everyone's gonna go get food so the lines will be shorter. Why don't we eat lunch first, before everyone else, and then go to the rides?" Hyunjin suggests.
