Scott had to take a walk. Sure, it was raining but his apartment just felt suffocating. It didn't make sense that it felt like that. His apartment was mostly empty after moving out of his parents. Could it be because of Lightning? No, stop thinking about him! You'll just make things worse. Why did he have to be a boy?

Lightning liked walking in the rain. Well, running. The rain cooled him off as he went and he could drink it. He had to go to the store anyway so why not go from a jog? If he was lucky, he'd run into Scott!

And lucky he was. As Scott walked sullenly down the street, he saw someone approaching at a rapid pace. As he made out their features, he realized it was Lightning. Just his luck.

Lightning ran past Scott a bit before realizing it was him. He stopped in his tracks and looked back.

"Hey Scottie!" He called out. Scott hesitated before finally looking back to Lightning, knowing that there's no way he'd out run the athlete.

"Hey Light" Scott replied with a small wave and a nervous smile.

Lightning ran up to the ginger and grabbed his hands. "Oh man, Lightning thought it'd be longer till he could see you but here you are!"

Scott knew what his father would say if he saw Lightning holding his hands like this. And for a moment he didn't care. He loved the feeling of Lightning holding his hands. He wished he could have this everyday.

"If I ever catch you with a man, I'll have your head"

The memory flashed into his head and he let go of Lightning's hands. He looked away, not being able to bare the look Lightning had on his face. Lightning was full of confusion and hurt.

"Scottie..." Lightning started but before he could finish he took the hint and started to leave. The one time Scott wish he didn't.

Scott walked the rest of the way down the street with tears in his eyes. He tried desperately for them not to fall but he couldn't keep them in. He wished he weren't a boy so badly. Why did he have to be a boy?

Scott unknowingly made it back to his apartment. The empty, unpainted halls certainly didn't make this place feel like a home or even a place a person lived. Scott didn't know how to decorate, his mother always did that. The only thing that hung on the wall was a picture of his family and a poster for Lightning's favorite band that he gave to him a while back. Looking at it made his eyes well up again.

Scott and Lightning had kept in touch after the show. Going to the same college definitely helped. They didn't see each other often but caught up with each other from time to time. One of the times they got together a couple of months back, Lightning had given Scott that poster. He said it was of "the greatest band of all time". Scott was greatful, even if he had never listened to their music. Seeing Lightning so happy about something lite a fire in Scott. It was always the small things that got to him. A simple thing like making soup for him while he was sick or the way the light shines on someone's smile made his heart skip a beat. He hated how quickly he fell. How something so simple could have such a big impact on him. He was in love with Lightning and Lightning was in love with him but he was convinced it was wrong. Why did he have to born a boy?
