Duchess Amidala sat in one the chairs of the King's Court. Palpatine was speaking but she paid little attention. She smoothed out her dark purple dress that was adorned with golden details. She sat up straighter and sighed. The large glass window overlooked the Kingdom of Courasant. The sky was dismal and the whole atmosphere was rather heavy. Those who were present were looking at the King. Or really, 'so called king'.
A voice snapped her out of her distracted mind, " Are you holding up alright?". Padme turned her head slightly to a woman with a soft accented voice. Her skin was blue, and her dress was a magenta with gold details.
" Yes." Padme answered with a small smile before turning her gaze upon the King. " This meeting seems to have little value today."
Riyo Chuchi nodded her head knowingly. " I understand. It will all be over soon."
Padme smiled softly and put her attention on Palpatine. To her surprise, the meeting ended sooner that she expected. Padme walked with some comrades that she had grown a close bond with walked through the cold stone halls of palace. " I'm glad it's over." Padme said, " This meeting was so long and dragged out. I think he just re-told everything he said yesterday, a few new things but mostly yesterday's news."
" He really doesn't need to hold these meetings." Riyo spoke, " I think he's bored and does not know what to do with his time. He should be out there making sure his people are well looked after. Instead, he works the Knights while he sits comfortably on his throne."
" King Palpatine has forcefully taken title of King, when really Padme should have been queen. Her parents died when you were young, and he gave you no sympathy, but I suppose he took you under his wing." Satine said after thought. " I suppose that is one positive thing about the King."
Padme didn't need a reminder. She disliked the thought. " I know. King Palpatine hosts these balls but has no concern for the people. " Padme explained looking at the tall blonde women. Satine nodded in understanding. " The Kingdom of Courasant is in rubble. Yet, he pays no heed to their cries. No matter how hard the senate tries to voice concerns. He just brushes them off." Padme finished.
" I do understand." Satine said thoughtfully. " I feel almost uncomfortable now a days to go out. Seeing my people in nothing but rags."
" You're doing all you can Duchess Kryze." Riyo encouraged. " Same with Duchess Amidala and I, and many more."
" Some don't think the same way we do though." Padme reminded with a sigh. " If Palpatine could just look out the window for once! See the people! But no, he sits on his throne all day makes, commands, host balls, and works our forces till they tire."
Riyo and Satine looked at one another. Padme almost never talks this way. Padme quickly understood the looks and looked down at the ground, " I'm sorry you had to hear that."
" We understand where you are coming from Padme." Satine said putting a hand on her shoulder and stopped walking. " Like you, we both want this reign of terrine to end. We want to see the sunshine and children play once more in the village streets."
" I'll agree with you there." Riyo Chuchi smiled softly. Her smile turned into a slight frown, " Though, I must warn you both, we must be careful of how we speak in the open voicing our concerns in the senate is one thing, talking about it anywhere is another. We must be wary."
" I understand." Padme said. Satine nodded in agreement. Riyo went on, " I must leave you both." She bowed, "Until our next meeting."
" I must take my leave too." Satine added smiling at the both of them. " Pleasure seeing you both."
Padme smiled and they all parted ways. She quickly headed down the hall and made her way down the large winding stone staircase. About to round the next corner she nearly bumped into someone. It took her a moment to figure out who it was and when she realized who it was, she broke into a smile, " Jesse." She greeted.
