Lana pov

It has been two hours and I still can't fall asleep. The cat is still cuddled with my legs fast asleep. I get out of bed without waking the feline and wonder through the house ready to reveal it's secrets at three am.

In total I discover four other bedrooms and three bathrooms excluding mine. I walk into what i thought to be a bedroom but it looks like an office, a workspace of some sort. A table that is organized a little too neatly in my opinion, not a file even the slightest bit tilted. The pens are neatly arranged in a specific pattern.

The grey cat strolls in and jumps on the bookshelf scratching at a book, intrigued I walk over to the grey furrball. Trying to pull the book out but I'm met with the sound of gears turning and clicking that makes me freeze. The shelf slides away into the wall revealing a massive library with at least fifty shelves scattered acros the massive space, another work table is situated in a far corner , but this one looks much more messy.

Doodles of creatures and a lot of written notes scattered everywhere. Pens and pencils in many colors all over the table. The lamp shines dimly on the pages. I take a seat in the chair examining the information.

Some are of blood sucking monsters that can never die. And some of people who turn into wolves. Different species of angels and demons. All these creatures listed, drawn and discribed.  A letter with my name on it catches my eye. A plain white envelope, my name in pretty cursive across the front of it. I open it and read the letter.

My dear Lana

I never meant to leave you and your mother for so long. You are special, we are special, we are not human. I left to find answers. I wanted to learn how to control our powers because I know just how mad the voices start to drive me, i can't imagine how you must have felt as a little girl. It was just too dangerous to have taken you and your mother with me.

If you are reading this i guess my research went to far and something has killed me, look Lana we are special and we can't die. Out here in the woods is the only place far enough to keep everyone out of our heads. This is where I worked.

Please can you feed Ashley, she is my grey cat, I've had her for years, and she hates thunder so maybe if you don't mind hold her during storms. It rains a lot in this area. Keep the windows closed, for storm pixies are hard to get out of the house.

Now listen to me carefully my daughter, you must stay out of the woods at all cost, don't go wandering and if you are to end up going against what I'm saying just please take Arthur the horse with you, he knows these woods by heart.

Be safe Lana. Don't invite strangers into the house, they can be dangerous. I wish I was more part of your life as a father, but everything I did was to help you have a better future.

I have found methods to enhance our powers and to block the voices but it takes practice. Everything you need is in my left bottom drawer.

Love your Father

Tears are streaming down my face and I can't believe it. I open the drawer to find a thick brown leather coated book. On the first page stands 'to Lana my eldest and only daughter.'

Along with it is a bunch of random stuff in the drawer I don't quite understand. A stick? Bag of dirt? Hat? Handkerchief?

I frown taking the book with me heading to the kitchen grabbing myself an apple and filling Ashley's boal with food. She meows in approval and I head back to my room to go take a well deserved shower.

After the amazing shower I unpack my boxes, my mind is a thousand of different places as I unpack.

It all feels like a dream but I can't seem to wake up, so it must be reality.
