..Time... Was slowing down. All I could feel was the intense gaze he had on me, and the the faint tickle of his warm breath on me..
I blinked.
It.. turned out that the subconscious mirage I was having was all a dream, after all. For starters, Naruto had fallen down and tripped, causing him to skid across the hallway at the sight of me. I had hoped he was in awe instead, but the idiot was just mad that his prank had gone wrong. I was embarrassed myself, because I had accidentally shown emotion in front of- what's her name- Haruno Sakura, of all people..
EARLIER (3RD PERSON)
Sakura was sitting excitedly on a very ordinary park bench. But although her surroundings were very ordinary and not at all exciting, she was very intoxicated with a case of InlovewithSasuke-itis. (Symptoms include(d) hallucinations, nausea, day/night dreaming and numerous others.)
"Ooh, Sasuke-kun, you're back!" Sakura exclaimed in glee when she noticed him (It took her approximately 0.05 seconds; what a feat!). "You sweet, romantic boy! I've been waiting for you-" (Author is dying of cringe here help)
"Where's that baka, Naruto?" Sasuke interrupted mercilessly, pacing towards her. "I need to talk to him."
Sakura, having been severely annoyed with all the talk about Naruto (Naturally, her feelings mattered more than whatever Naruto had- duh!) and sighed. "Why do you always talk about Naruto so much? He's such an annoying wart I wish I never had in my life! Do you know he has no parents? Ha, he's an orphan!"
Sasuke stopped walking. He shot her a nervous, almost vulnerable side eye before immediately looking surly again.
Sakura continued talking as if she had never saw his reaction (She knew she had his attention, so OF COURSE she had to keep talking). With a "confident" smirk, she ventured on: "So since he doesn't have parents, there's no one to scold him. Hah! MY parents would scold me so friggin' much if I did just one little thing wrong! Man, what I would give to have freedom like that! Naruto is SO selfish! "
Sasuke's reaction was to say the very least, confusing. He had definitely heard her, but he didn't seem amused in the slightest. "That, and lonely," he muttered angrily.
Sakura didn't understand why he was so mad; she was talking to him! Shouldn't he be overjoyed to be in HER presence? All she could say was "Hunh?"
"Being scolded by your parents doesn't even compare! Sasuke shot back, sounding more angry than Sakura had ever saw him. Sasuke's anger and resentment had existed for a long time, being bottled up made his fury much, much more pronounced than usual. "You.. make me SICK!"
NOW (Sasuke's POV)
"W-what are you doing here?" Naruto hollered, pointing his stubby little finger at me.
I smirked, hoping to hide my tattered nerves. (I have to look cool in front of Naruto, right??) "Good ninja are pickpockets. Didn't you know?"
Naruto didn't respond. Instead, his face twisted into an expression of pain. What was wrong?
I couldn't react to him in time, because he suddenly scrambled straight back to the bathroom, screaming, "I HAFTA POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
I laughed. Had we made progress in our relationship?
