"You look absolutely stunning, Jisoo. I'm so happy for you," Lisa said as she stood behind her best friend who was staring at her wedding dress in the full-length mirror in front of her.
Jisoo focused on Lisa through the mirror. "And how are you doing?"
"We've been over this. I'm fine."
"You don't look fine." Jisoo shook her head. "I mean, you're fine as hell. But you look sad."
"I'll be okay. I promise."
Was she going to be okay though? She had no idea what had happened with Roseanne. One day things were perfect and the next they were just being cordial to each other, exchanging texts here and there out of habit more than anything. Maybe what was happening between them always had an expiration date, and Roseanne wanted that sooner rather than later. Maybe she thought her ex could offer her something Lisa couldn't.
Lisa chastised herself for what had to be the millionth time this week. If she had just been honest, maybe Roseanne wouldn't have found the need to look elsewhere for what was lacking. She wondered how long whatever this was had been going on between Roseanne and Jennie.
As if reading her mind, Jisoo said, "Haein doesn't think there's actually anything going on between them. Roseanne was kind of quiet about her reasoning for bringing her, but he really thinks they're just friends."
If they were just friends, why would Roseanne bring her along to this wedding where she already had a somewhat date? Except that was just it. Lisa had never even taken her on an official date. For all Roseanne knew, she just saw her as someone to have sex with, but that wasn't the case. She was so much more than that. Right now, she felt like everything.
"Ladies, it's time," the wedding planner said from the door.
Lisa smiled at Jisoo. "Time to marry the love of your life."
"Best words ever," Jisoo said with a grin wider than any Lisa had ever seen on her face before.
Lisa lined up behind the three other bridesmaids and right in front of Jisoo. Soon, they were directed to the doors outside of the chapel. When the doors opened, Lisa's eyes immediately went to the five people already standing at the end of the aisle. Okay. That was a lie. Her eyes went to one person in particular—the beautiful girl standing right next to Haein.
Roseanne's floor-length black gown looked absolutely breathtaking on her. Its cut was high enough to be classy but low enough to have Lisa's mouth watering. As Lisa walked down the aisle, she couldn't take her eyes off of Roseanne. She wished more than anything that things could be different and wondered if they still could. As she got closer, Roseanne's eyes met hers and it was like those brown eyes were seeing into her soul. She wondered if she could see how much she wanted her; how her heart completely belonged to her and how it was killing her to watch it slip away.
Lisa had to look away. She couldn't keep staring at Roseanne or she was going to lose it. She let herself get swept up in the wedding ceremony and when she cried, it was tears of joy for her best friend.
But the end of the ceremony brought the march back down the aisle and that meant walking with Roseanne. They met in the center and Roseanne put her arm out for Lisa to take. As soon as they touched, all of the feelings Lisa had spent the week trying to convince herself weren't as strong as she thought, came flooding back. She wanted to confess all those feelings then and there, but that would have been wrong. Roseanne was there with someone else, and Lisa was not that kind of girl.
Still, she leaned close to Roseanne to whisper in her ear. "You look extremely beautiful today." Just a harmless compliment.
Roseanne closed her eyes and took a deep breath then sighed, but when she opened her eyes back up, she gave Lisa that winning smile. "As opposed to every other day?"
